Join Our Team as a Seasonal Construction Laborer on our paving crew!

Western Construction in Rapid City, SD is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as entry-level or experienced Seasonal Construction laborers for the upcoming construction season. If you are looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in the road construction industry while working outdoors and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Black Hills, this is the perfect opportunity for you! The typical work season is mid-April - December.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various construction tasks such as digging, raking, lifting, carrying, flagging, and operating equipment under the supervision of experienced crew members.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
  • Learn new skills and techniques on the job to advance your career in the construction industry.
  • Work efficiently and effectively to meet project deadlines and exceed client expectations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic to contribute to a productive and cohesive team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the work.
  • Pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical.
  • Previous road construction experience is great, but no prior experience is required - this position is perfect for entry-level laborers looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in the road construction industry.

  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust, fuel, oil, or other chemicals.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment.
  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as required.
