Job description

Position Title:  People Services & Relations Generalist

Reports to: People Services & Relations Manager

Department: People Operations

Classification:  Full-time, Exempt

Pay: $75,000-85,000 annually

This is a full-time position located on-site at our Modesto administrative office. This role will be expected to travel to Corto Olive in Stockton, CA on occasion and at least twice per month off season. During our Corto Harvest season, this role will be expected to support the season by working at least 3 days on site on a weekly basis.

As a People Services & Relations Generalist, you will display your excellent problem solving and communication skills daily. Interacting with our team regularly to provide superior customer service, you will support our Non-Union team at both Stanislaus Food Products and Corto Olive with their needs.

This position will be primarily responsible for:

Facilitating Engagement

    • With guidance from our VP of People Operations, and support from our Administrator, you will develop, implement and execute a diverse range of activities that cater to the needs and interests of our Stanislaus team. This will create opportunities for social interaction, collaboration and active participation. You will participate in our Corto Engagement efforts and provide support as the committee designates.
    • Execute and lead Campus Recruitment efforts as well as facilitate career fair opportunities for both SFP and Corto Olive. This includes internal talent efforts for Interns, Trainee programs, etc.

Employee Record Management

    • Executing and maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in both digital and physical formats following the CA and Federal regulations for all people processes from hiring to terminations, regarding all Non-Union team members, including updating and maintaining HRIS with employee information.
    • Supporting the People Services & Relations Manager in Employee Record Projects such as auditing, scanning, filing, etc.

People Services

    • Supporting the People Services Administrator in coordination for benefits enrollment and answering benefits questions as they arise for both SFP and Corto.
    • Support Administrator Coordination of the annual Wellness Event to ensure a superior employee experience.
    • Own and execute the full recruitment process for hourly and individual contributor roles, as well as other roles assigned by the Manager. Responsibilities include scheduling interviews, preparing job postings and offer materials, and completing required pre-employment activities.
    • Lead hiring efforts for the Seasonal, Non-Union team by partnering with each department head to understand staffing needs, filling roles within established seasonal hiring metrics, and ensuring all SFP and Corto Olive recruiting and onboarding processes are followed.
    • Staying up to date on relevant employment laws and regulations.
    • Serve as Onboarding backup to Administrator for both SFP and Corto.
    • Support Union Employee Services team and processes, as needed and assigned.

Administrative Support

    • Answering employee inquiries and providing People Operations related information.
    • Preparing reports and presentations.
    • Preparing for meetings to include lunch orders, etc.
    • Assisting with other People Operations projects and initiatives as assigned.

Communication and Collaboration

    • Serving as a liaison between SFP and Corto team members and the People Operations department. 
    • Serve as a liaison with key stakeholders, including executive-level partners, and provide guidance and recommendations as needed throughout the recruitment process. This includes collaboration with Executive level partners. 
    • Creating and maintaining collaborative relationships with all management including the Cannery and Distribution Center.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or SHRMCP/PHR Certification and equivalent experience. Will accept applicant willing to get certified within year 1.
  • At least three years experience in progressive People Operation (Human Resources) role and Manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, in reading, written and verbal form.
  • Proficient in HRIS, Office Suite and Canva.
  • Demonstrated understanding of California and Federal laws for people recruitment, leave of absences, and benefits.

Candidate Preferences:

  • At least 5 years experience in similar role.
  • At least 5 years experience in Manufacturing.
  • At least one year’s experience using UKG.

Physical Requirements:

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling;   rare stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 75% or more sitting, 25% or less walking, and 25% or less standing. The job is performed under  rare temperature variations and in an office environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 30 lbs. is required.
