Assistant Weighmaster Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must exhibit prior clerical experience performing office tasks, such as developing correspondence, producing reports, answering the phone, paying invoices, filing, etc.
2. Must exhibit a working knowledge in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
3. Must exhibit technical knowledge, such as receiving, transferring, and issuing raw materials.
4. Must exhibit a tolerance for stress, the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines under a dynamic work schedule. The nature of this job requires performing job duties with numerous interruptions.
5. Must exhibit good attention to detail and good organizational skills.
6. Must exhibit good oral and written communication skills with all levels of the Company (i.e., good command of grammar and spelling). Must exhibit the ability to communicate in a courteous, polite, and effective manner, both verbally and in written format.
7. Must be able to rotate shifts and work extra hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required to fulfill job duties.
8. Must exhibit the ability to understand and accurately use basic math involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, including fractions and decimals.
9. Must exhibit a record of punctuality and good attendance.
10. Must exhibit the ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
11. Must exhibit the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job duties.
12. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
13. Due to the hazardous nature of the job environment (mobile equipment, overhead cranes, etc.), an acceptable level of vision and hearing is required in order to identify and respond to visual and audible warnings in a safe manner.
14. Must meet the physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment as administered by the Company.
15. Must exhibit good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with persons of different socio-economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds. Must exhibit the ability to cooperate well with other individuals and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

17. Must exhibit professionalism and good judgment.
18. Must be able to learn to read and interpret specifications for projects, such as product/material codes.
19. Must possess a valid state issued driver's license.
20. Must exhibit good reasoning and analytical skills for identifying and resolving problems.
21. Must be able to learn to use measuring instruments, such as rail car scales, sand and cement level indicators, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Prior office experience dealing with truck and railroad freight.
2. Exhibit experience working with material receiving systems, such as the Rail Cars at AMERICAN (RCA), Actuator-Sensor Interface (ASI), JD Edwards, or similar systems.

Essential Physical Functions:

• Sitting required while at desk typing, writing, working on computer, and performing routine desk activities. Sitting also required while driving mobile equipment.
• Standing required on even and uneven surfaces while weighing cars, checking cars in yard, at files, etc.
• Walking required on even and uneven surfaces to check rail cars and for long distances as necessary.
• Climbing stairs required to get to office.
• Climbing fixed ladder required to check rail cars.
• Balancing required on stairs and ladder. Balancing also required to maneuver in work area and throughout plant.
• Stooping and/or crouching required to check materials and to access file drawers.
• Overhead reach required to climb ladder.
• Forward reach required for routine desk activities and weighing cars.
• Bended reach occasionally required for filing and accessing supplies.
• Handling required to use phone, climb ladder, drive, operate controls on equipment, etc.
• Use of fingers required for typing, phone, calculator, writing, paperwork, etc.
• Talking required for communication via two-way radio, phone, and person-to-person.
• Vision required for inspecting rail cars, safety, identifying materials, quality, filing, sorting mail, weighing cars, and other desk activities.
• Hearing required for safety and communication.
• Lifting and carrying occasionally required for printer paper weighing up to 40 pounds lifted from floor to waist and carried approximately 20 feet. Lifting and carrying frequently required for items weighing less than 10 pounds.
• Pushing and pulling required for file drawers with approximately five to 10 pounds of force. *Duties may be performed outdoors in all types of inclement weather.*
