What is a search manager?

Search Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and optimizing a company's search engine marketing (SEM) and sometimes search engine optimization (SEO) strategies. They manage campaigns on platforms like Google Ads and Bing Ads, analyze performance data, and adjust tactics to improve visibility, traffic, and conversions. Their role often involves keyword research, budget management, ad copywriting, and collaborating with marketing teams to achieve business goals.

How does a search manager typically collaborate with other departments to optimize campaign performance?

Search Managers frequently work cross-functionally, partnering with content, analytics, and creative teams to ensure campaigns are aligned with overall marketing goals. They often collaborate with data analysts to review performance metrics and identify optimization opportunities, as well as with designers to refine ad creatives. Regular communication with account managers and clients is also common to share insights and adjust strategies based on evolving business objectives. This collaborative approach helps ensure that search campaigns are both effective and integrated with broader digital marketing efforts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a search manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Search Manager, you need expertise in search engine marketing (SEM), pay-per-click (PPC) campaign management, data analysis, and a relevant degree in marketing or business. Familiarity with tools such as Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Google Analytics, and SEMrush, along with certifications like Google Ads Certification, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, communication, and project management skills help drive effective campaigns and foster collaboration across teams. These skills are crucial for optimizing search performance, maximizing ROI, and staying competitive in the rapidly evolving digital marketing landscape.

Job description

About Juniper Square

Private markets are one of the largest, most complex, and most underserved corners of global finance. Our mission at Juniper Square is to unlock their full potential. We’re the Operations Partner trusted by 2,300+ GPs, unifying technology, data, and fund administration services into a single platform that helps GPs move faster, make better decisions, and scale with precision. With $300B+ under administration and 700,000+ LPs on platform, we’ve built the scale to match our ambition. And with JunieAI, our purpose-built AI platform, we’re reimagining how private markets operate, embedding intelligence across every workflow. Founder-led since 2014, backed by $350M+ in funding, and now 1,000+ employees strong, we’re building a company designed to shape the future of private markets for decades to come.

Our culture is built for people who want to do ambitious, meaningful work alongside exceptionally talented teammates. We think like owners, move with urgency, and take pride in solving hard problems that truly matter to our customers and the future of private markets. We believe the best ideas come from open debate, deep collaboration, and diverse perspectives, which is why we believe transparency is the default and feedback makes us stronger. If you’re energized by high standards, rapid growth, and the opportunity to help define a category at a pivotal moment, come join us!

Juniper Square offers employees a variety of ways to work, ranging from a fully remote experience to working full-time in one of our physical offices. We invest heavily in digital-first operations, allowing our teams to collaborate effectively across 27 U.S. states, 2 Canadian Provinces, India, Luxembourg, and England. We also have physical offices in San Francisco, New York City, Mumbai and Bangalore for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.

About your role

In this role, you\'ll oversee the full operational stack of junipersquare.com: CMS governance, SEO and AEO strategy, production and day-to-day operations, agency oversight, and the AI-powered workflows that let the site run with increasing intelligence and scale. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Marketing, the Senior Web Operations Manager sits on Juniper Square’s Marketing team, working alongside creative, brand, content, and product marketing teams. The right candidate combines technical depth with search expertise at the intersection of traditional SEO and AI-driven discovery, and a builder\'s instinct for designing systems rather than managing tasks.

The application deadline for this role is September 21st, 2026.

What you’ll do
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all website initiatives; translate business and technical needs into clear execution plans, communicate trade-offs, and drive projects across teams with minimal oversight.

  • Own Juniper Square’s content management system (CMS) end-to-end: governance, plugins, security updates, and direct page production using existing components and templates; brief the agency for complex backend work and QA every release before it ships.

  • Run production operations: schedule and publish blog posts, page updates, and podcast and related assets; manage cross-functional dependencies (Brand, Product, Legal); and maintain site hygiene (broken links, outdated content, asset organization, and international page upkeep).

  • Monitor and continuously improve Core Web Vitals, site speed, and uptime; own platform health and maintain documented recovery procedures for critical issues.

  • Own JSQ\'s organic SEO strategy and roadmap: technical SEO (architecture, crawlability, schema markup), setting direction, and iterating based on performance data.

  • Own the AEO/GEO monitoring and correction loop: track how Juniper Square is represented across AI answer engines, run keyword and prompt-based research, implement structured data and semantic frameworks, and translate priorities into a clear content roadmap.

  • Design and operate AI workflows for AEO/GEO monitoring, content refresh cycles, and performance reporting, etc., automating recurring operations that previously required manual pulls.

  • Own performance reporting: define and track KPIs across traffic, organic visibility, and technical site health. Surface clear, actionable insight for improvement to be shared with leadership and cross-functional partners.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years in a Marketing function with direct ownership or management of a B2B website, including track record of scaling website performance and impact, agency oversight and cross-functional coordination.

  • Hands-on CMS ownership experience: familiarity with headless or hybrid CMS architectures (Contentful, Sanity, Webflow, or similar) and how AI can be layered into content delivery and publishing workflows.

  • Deep analytics and technical SEO expertise, and comfort in reporting on performance data and optimization.

  • Real AEO/GEO fluency: you know how AI answers engines index and surface content, and can run a structured process to monitor and correct representation.

  • Experience working cross-functionally (Product, Design, IT, Legal, etc.) and demonstrated project management and communication skills. Comfortable owning a backlog with competing deadlines and driving major initiatives with minimal oversight.

  • AI fluency: you\'ve built AI-powered systems that created operational leverage. Candidates who advance to final rounds will demonstrate this live; candidates with experience building are strongly encouraged to show it.

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $160,000. Actual base salaries will be based on candidate-specific factors, including experience, skill set, and location, and local minimum pay requirements as applicable.

Benefits include:

  • Health, dental, and vision care for you and your family

  • Life insurance

  • Mental wellness coverage

  • Fertility and growing family support

  • Flex Time Off in addition to company-paid holidays

  • Paid family leave, medical leave, and bereavement leave policies

  • Retirement saving plans

  • Allowance to customize your work and technology setup at home

  • Annual professional development stipend

Your recruiter can provide additional details about compensation and benefits.
