Position Summary: 
Bear Flag Fish Company is seeking a Seafood Specialist to join our team! A Seafood Specialist is responsible for ensuring the freshness, quality, and appealing presentation of all seafood products in the department. This team member provides knowledgeable, friendly service to customers, prepares and packages seafood items, and maintains strict cleanliness and safety standards in all work areas.  
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assist customers with seafood selections, cooking tips, and product knowledge.
  • Prepare, clean, cut, and display a variety of fresh fish and shellfish according to company standards.
  • Monitor product freshness and perform regular quality checks.
  • Ensure proper product rotation, storage, and labeling for traceability and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workspace, adhering to all food safety and health regulations.
  • Track inventory and assist in ordering seafood supplies as needed.
  • Stay informed about seasonal catches, sustainability practices, and new products.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver excellent customer service and support department goals.
Qualifications/ Requirements: 
  • Prior experience in seafood handling, butchery, or culinary prep required. 
  • A skilled knife handler with excellent knife technique 
  • Strong knowledge of seafood varieties and preparation methods.
  • Comfortable using knives and seafood processing equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, and varying shifts.
  • Can successfully set up a fish case and display 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
