The RTE ensures alignment on objectives, removes cross-team impediments, and fosters collaboration between teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to anticipate and resolve dependencies or risks that may impact timely product delivery.

What is a Scrum Master Release Train Engineer?

A Scrum Master Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a leadership role within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) that combines the responsibilities of a traditional Scrum Master with those of a Release Train Engineer. The RTE facilitates program-level processes and execution, drives continuous improvement, and ensures that Agile Release Trains (ARTs) deliver value. They coordinate the work of multiple Agile teams, manage risks, and support PI (Program Increment) planning. The role requires strong communication, organizational, and servant leadership skills to help teams succeed in a scaled Agile environment.
