Job description

Position: Inpatient Manager – Medical Surgical Unit (MSU)
Location: Grand Junction, CO
Hourly Pay: $53.00 – $60.95 (based on experience)
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $20,000 + Relocation assistance available
Full-Time (Exempt) | Leadership On-Call Rotation | Immediate Start

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and operational oversight of the Medical Surgical Unit
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality benchmarks
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning
  • Partner with leadership and HR on recruitment, onboarding, and retention
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans
  • Oversee staff education, training, and competency programs
  • Assist with budget planning and cost control initiatives
  • Maintain readiness for Joint Commission and CMS audits
  • Participate in leadership on-call rotation
  • Support bedside care as needed
  • Monitor and improve nurse-sensitive quality indicators
  • Collaborate across departments and manage float pool resources

Qualifications

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) – Required
  • MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) – Preferred
  • Active, unrestricted RN license (Colorado)
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in Med-Surg or similar setting
  • BLS & ACLS – Required prior to hire
  • PALS & TNCC/TCAR – Required within 6 months
  • CCRN, PCCN, or equivalent – Preferred
  • NE-BC certification – Required within 3 years
