Students in Grades Kโ€“12 attend school in dress code and benefit from an extended academic calendar of 200 instructional days, along with a school day that is approximately 60 minutes longer than that of traditional public schools. Position Overview: Science Teacherย 

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Science Teacher to implement its Science program for students in Grades Kโ€“12. Instruction is delivered in alignment with the Core Knowledge curriculum and methodology.

At the high school level, MVRCS offers the rigorous and internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, and teaching assignments may include IB coursework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the Science curriculum in accordance with established Core Knowledge and, where applicable, IB standards
  • Teach up to five sections of science courses, each meeting daily
  • Design and deliver lessons and units grounded in clear, measurable learning objectives
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback through progress reports and report cards
  • Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Science Department Chair and Leadership Team
  • Collaborate weekly with Science Department colleagues on curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and methodology
  • Maintain a structured classroom environment using the schoolโ€™s established discipline model
  • Attend all faculty meetings and participate in ongoing professional development
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Science Department Chair, Assistant Director, Assistant Superintendent, and/or Superintendent/Director
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or General Science required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound instructional decisions
  • Ability to write clear reports and professional correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate student performance and interpret data effectively
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Strong understanding of school policies, state and federal regulations, and MVRCS expectations
  • Strong collaboration, teaching, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in a multi-tasking environment
  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach to supporting student success
  • Strong content knowledge within the subject area
  • Ability to plan and implement instruction aligned with school objectives and student needs
Additional Information

This position reports to the Science Department Chair. All faculty members are evaluated annually and appointed on a yearly basis.
