JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Office of Science Outreach in the Eberly College of Science is currently seeking enthusiastic applicants for Summer Program Assistants for the Science-U summer science camp program. Successful applicants will contribute to creating high-energy, hands-on science experiences for our campers during the camp season on the University Park, PA campus. Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be prepared to fulfill all job duties related to the Summer Program Assistant position, which include:

  • Assisting the administrative team in preparing materials for camps, such as camp rosters and other operational documents

  • Maintaining various databases

  • Assisting with marketing efforts such as the Science-U newsletter

  • Providing on-site assistance at all camps

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm to work with K-12 students and share science with others

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and learn on-the-job

  • Reliability and ability to follow a schedule, which is communicated in advance

Note: In the Office of Science Outreach, we understand that students are more than their transcripts and resumes. Students of all academic majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. As we provide all necessary job training before the start of Science-U Camps, no prior experience in childcare or science education is required.

Benefits: A typical work week for most camps is 40 hours, with an hourly wage starting at $12.70 per hour. Lunch and professional development opportunities are also included.
