Job description

Personal Trainer-Part Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Part Time
Under the direction of the Personal Training supervisor and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Personal Trainer is responsible for providing fitness assessments, fitness orientations, and individualized fitness routines for the low-risk, apparently healthy population. Responsibilities include: developing member relationships, increasing program development and increasing member retention.
  • Developing member relations and member involvement
  • Providing individualized exercise and fitness instruction based on the specific needs of the individual
  • Promoting total YMCA programming
  • Counseling on fitness and health issues
  • Increasing membership retention
  • Enhancing knowledge of training principles and healthy lifestyle education
  • Increasing exposure of YMCA to non-member participants
  • Participating in staff activities (meetings, staff functions)
  • Ability to effectively "spot" personal training clients; weight may vary.
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications:
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Current Blood Borne Pathogen/First Aid certifications
  • Experience in personal training
  • National certification in personal training (ACSM Health Fitness Instructor, ACE Personal Trainer, AFAA Personal Trainer, AFPA Fitness and Nutrition Certification, Cooper Institute Personal Trainer, FiTOUR Personal Trainer, ISCA Personal Trainer, ISSA Personal Trainer, NASM Personal Trainer, NESTA Personal Trainer, NSCA Personal Trainer, WITS Personal Trainer, Yoga Fit Personal Trainer, Yoga Alliance Personal Trainer or YMCA Personal Training Instructor) or a Bachelor's Degree in fitness related field
  • Ability to train along with a seasoned YMCA trainer for a minimum probationary period of 15 hours within 6 months of hire
  • 16 hours continuing education as required by specific personal training certification
  • Provide copies of all certifications and required CEC's to fitness director or branch director annually
  • Excellent human relations and communication skills
  • Team player
  • Physical requirements for this position include: Walking, Sitting, Climbing, Seeing, Crouching, Stooping, Standing, Hearing, Speaking, Kneeling, Lifting (50lbs), Carrying (50lbs), Pushing (50lbs) and Pulling (50lbs)

Pay Range: $20 - $40 per hour
