The department of Med Wellness and Recreation has an exciting opportunity for a Part Time/TEMP - Personal Trainer to work at the UTHealth Miami Campus. The Personal Trainer educates clients and enforces policies regarding the safe and proper use of equipment. The incumbent develops, documents, and implements one-on-one, partner, or group workout programs that match the needs and goals of clients. Moreover, the incumbent instructs clients on basic exercise physiology and informs them of proper lifting and exercise techniques.

  • Provides personal training for clients.

  • Conducts fitness assessments.

  • Stays up to date on knowledge of fitness equipment and exercises.

  • Provides detailed individualized workout program based on their fitness results.

  • Acts in a professional manner by upholding policy when involved in conflict management with clients, students and staff.

  • Attends all monthly mandatory meetings and semester training.

  • Performs opening/closing procedures of the fitness floor and cardio areas.

  • Provides customer service by assisting patrons and clients via spotting, answering questions on exercise and techniques as well as demonstrations on fitness equipment.

  • Develops and presents fitness and wellness related workshops.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

  • Conduct consultations for members, University employees, and patients.

  • Providemotivation and support through positive reinforcement.

  • Offer virtual training and consultations when applicable.

  • Educate clients on healthy lifestyle habits, including sleep, hydration, and stress management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • American Heart Association CPR/AED and First Aid Certification

  • Personal Training Certification. NCCA preferred.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • General knowledge of office procedures and operations.

  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
