Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Summer School Kindergarten aide

POSITION SUMMARY:

An instructional assistant works under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. The teacher plans the instructional assistant's instructional activities and evaluates the achievement of the students with whom the instructional assistant works. The instructional assistant is required to work in close physical proximity of the teacher.

DUTIES:

Commit to working the Kinder Camp schedule: from 8/3 to 8/14 from 7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Demonstrates knowledge and application of the elements of effective instruction to assist teaching and learning as developed by the certified staff. Provides assistance to certified teachers in collecting data for needs assessment, student selection, desired outcomes, and evaluation as requested. Maintain adequate records on student work, personal data and test scores as required by certified teachers. Works cooperatively with student services staff members and/or outside agencies as required. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma. Having completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education is preferred. Must have knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness as appropriate.

Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to work Kinder Camp hours of 7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Monday through Friday beginning 8/3 through 8/14. Must be able to handle stress.

A Kindergarten teacher is a highly qualified, Indiana-licensed educator with an Early Childhood endorsement who is responsible for delivering the Indiana Early Learning Standards and the SBCSC curriculum (Fundations, Heggerty, HighScope) within a differentiated general-education learning environment.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal of Pre-K

DUTIES:

A teaching candidate must fully implement the kindergarten curriculum, following the corporation-provided instructional resources.

In addition the teacher will:

Commit to working the Kinder Camp schedule: from 8/3 to 8/14 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Maintain a safe classroom and appropriate classroom management

Make parent contact, as necessary, to advance each child’s learning (both positive and growth areas)

Create play-based activities that will engage studetns while teaching kindergarten standards.

Other duties may include:

Uses a variety of teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process

Structure the classroom environment to maintain student interest and engagement

Maintain professional responsibility for planning, implementing and evaluating the process of learning by creating assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS: Teacher License and be Highly Qualified

Maintain regular, documented communication between home and school

Utilize technology to enhance the learning environment and differentiate instruction

Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to work the hours of 8 to 11 a.m. and interact with children
