General Purpose:

As a Steward/Dishwasher at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operations of banquet events. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and providing support to the banquet staff. Your primary focus will be on dishwashing and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role requires attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dishwashing and Sanitation:
    • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and other banquet equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by following proper sanitation procedures.
    • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when restocking is needed.
    • Keep the dishwashing area clean, organized, and free of debris.
    • Drive supplies throughout the Resort as needed.
  2. Event Support:
    • Assist with banquet event setup, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and other necessary equipment.
    • Support banquet staff by delivering and replenishing supplies during events.
    • Clear and clean tables promptly after events to prepare for the next event or service.
    • Collaborate with the banquet team to ensure efficient workflow and guest satisfaction.
  1. Teamwork and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of event operations.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and guests to address any concerns or special requests.
    • Assist in training and mentoring new stewards/dishwashers as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a dishwasher or steward preferred, but NOT required.
  • Knowledge of proper dishwashing and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to operate dishwashing equipment and other cleaning tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the banquet schedule.
  • Valid drivers license in good standing with DMV.

Basic Required Skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Utilizes an “open door” policy, and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

  • Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by the environmental systems while inside and controlled by nature outside.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 5 hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25-50 lbs. as needed.
  • Needs to be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
