Position Summary

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the reliable, safe, and costeffective operation of all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems within an industrial chemical wastewater treatment plant and a parallel UltraPure Water (UPW) production plant. This role leads a multidisciplinary maintenance team, drives preventivemaintenance programs, manages capitalproject upgrades, and ensures compliance with environmental, safety, and quality regulations. The engineer acts as the technical authority for troubleshooting, rootcause analysis, and continuousimprovement initiatives that maximize plant availability and product water quality.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:

Develop&ExecuteMaintenanceStrategies

  • Createpreventiveandpredictivemaintenance(PM/PdM)programsforpumps,compressors,heatexchangers,RO/EDIsystems,dosingequipment,andutilities.
  • Trackandimprovekeyreliabilitymetrics(availability,MTBF,MTTR).

DriveCapitalProjectManagement

  • Scope,budget,procure,andcommissionupgrades(e.g.,pumpvibrationmonitoring,PLC/HMImodernization,newwatertreatmentmodules).
  • Ensureprojectsmeetcost,schedule,safety,andqualitytargets.

RootCauseAnalysis&ContinuousImprovement

  • ConductFailureMode&EffectsAnalysis(FMEA)andRootCauseAnalyses(RCA)onmajorequipmentfailures.
  • Implementreliabilitycenteredmaintenance(RCM)andLean/SixSigmaimprovementstoreducedowntimeandwaste.

EnsureRegulatory&QualityCompliance

  • MaintaincompliancewithEPAwastewaterregulations,OSHA,ISO14001/9001,andUPwaterqualityspecs(conductivity,TOC,microbiology).
  • Keepaccuratemaintenancerecords,permit,andaudittrails.

DataManagement&AutomationIntegration

  • UseCMMS(e.g.,Maximo,SAPPM)andanalyticsplatforms(PI,PowerBI)forconditionmonitoring,KPIreporting,andpredictiveanalytics.
  • Collaboratewithcontrolsystemengineerstorefinealarmstrategiesandsetpointoptimization.

TechnicalSupport&Troubleshooting

  • Provideexperttroubleshootingformechanical,electrical,andinstrumentationissuesacrossbothplants.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Abachelor'sdegreeinmechanical,orchemicalengineering.

  • 5-10yearsofexperienceinindustrialwastewatertreatmentsystemsandorUPWtreatmentsystems.

  • ProficiencyinMaintenanceManagementSystems(CMMS)&Reliability.

  • KnowledgeofEnvironmental,Health,andSafety(EHS)Regulations.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $174,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
