This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and complete bids, estimations, and quotations based on customer specifications, requirements, and budget to help the company stay competitive in the market and preserve strong margins. Each day, you will maintain and improve the balance between all ABB units and customers in your area of responsibility. You will also showcase your technical knowledge by collecting and collating the information required to prepare proposals, including both technical and cost elements.

This is an evergreen requisition - ABB is continuously building a candidate pipeline of highly motivated and innovative professionals for Sales Support Specialist and Sales Support Manager positions. This role plays a critical part in facilitating ABB's business growth and supporting various divisions across India, covering multiple locations and customer sites.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Creating well-documented tenders in a timely manner with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs

  • Formulating competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by considering the best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial aspects for each situation

  • Managing the preparation of technical, financial, and project management aspects of bids, estimates, and quotations, indicating prices and trading conditions

  • Overseeing the validation of terms and conditions (commercial, technical, legal, and pricing) in each offer

  • Ensuring the most competitive offers considering market situation and customer conditions, and identifying the most effective approach (direct sales, consortium, or channel) for better serving customers

  • Supporting bid/no bid analyses and decisions in collaboration with sales and business teams

  • Participating in project risk review processes and ensuring required technical support and clarifications are provided to sales organizations during technical meetings, product presentations, and negotiations

  • Defining key targets and ensuring their achievement by overseeing progress and defining improvement actions for customer support and satisfaction

  • Managing, developing, and coaching the Sales Support team (for managerial positions)

Qualifications for the role

  • Full-time Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited university with 3-18 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience in Bids & Proposals, preparing quotations, and formulating technical & commercial aspects for ABB products including PLC, DCS, SCADA, Substation Automation systems, LV/MV Switchgear (ACB, MCB, MCCB, PCC, MCC, AIS, GIS, RMU, Relays), LV/HV/HT Motors, VFD Drives, Transformers, Generators, UPS, Marine Propulsion Systems, Excitation Systems, Analyzers (Liquid, Water, Gas), Field Instruments, and Power Electronics

  • Solid understanding of technical specifications, commercial terms, pricing strategies, and contract conditions

  • Experience in preparing comprehensive tender documentation with accurate cost estimations and technical compliance

  • Ability to analyze customer requirements, market conditions, and competitive landscape to develop effective proposals

  • Knowledge of project risk assessment and mitigation strategies in bid preparation Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal) for proposal writing and stakeholder interaction

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM/ERP systems (SAP))

  • Demonstrated methodological, organizational, and time management skills with ability to handle multiple bids simultaneously
