The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The USAC Sales Operations Leader is a key Commercial Excellence leader responsible for driving disciplined, scalable sales operations across the United States and Canada (USAC), with primary accountability for operational pricing and sales incentive plan management. Reporting to the Commercial Excellence Senior Vice President, this role strengthens commercial execution by advancing operational rigor, governance, transparency, and responsiveness across pricing, trade spend, and sales compensation processes. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in sales operations, pricing, incentive administration, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership in a complex, fast-paced commercial environment.

As a(n) USAC Sales Operations Leader, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Lead sales operations across USAC to support commercial priorities, business performance, and strategic objectives.
  • Serve as a key operational partner to Commercial Excellence and USAC sales leadership, ensuring strong governance, scalability, and process effectiveness.
  • Oversee operational pricing, including invoice pricing, price changes, deal and deviated pricing, promotional pricing, and trade spend programs such as rebates and MDF.
  • Lead sales incentive plan definition, administration, quota management, and exception governance across USAC.
  • Drive continuous improvement in pricing and incentive processes to enhance accuracy, responsiveness, transparency, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with sales, finance, and cross-functional teams to strengthen decision-making, pricing discipline, and alignment to business goals.
  • Lead issue resolution, exception handling, and the development of tools, systems, and standard practices to improve execution and control.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Ten (10) or more years' experience in sales operations, pricing operations, and/or sales performance management in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Three (3) years' experience in operational pricing, including invoice pricing, price changes, deal pricing, and promotional pricing
  • Three (3) years' experience managing trade spend programs, including rebates and Market Development Funds

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Sales operations leadership experience, including strong knowledge of sales incentive administration, quota management, and exception handling.
  • Experience operating in complex commercial environments, including consumer, CPG, retail, and matrixed organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and global teams and influence senior stakeholders across sales, finance, and business leadership.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to use data, digital tools, AI-enabled processes, and modern sales technologies to improve decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and change leadership skills.

Work location:

  • Onsite: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
  • Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
  • Relocation: May be authorized
