Summary:

The Sales Manager serves as a team leader to inside sales representatives and Territory Managers. The Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales and profit goals in an assigned geographical sales district.  The Sales Manager sets goals/objectives, performance targets and monitors sales performance / pricing practices.  The Sales Manager is responsible for managing, directing, coaching, mentoring, and developing assigned sales employees.  The Sales Manager supports and drives the sales force effectiveness, strategy implementation, process and acceptance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
  • Directs sales representatives and Territory Managers in identifying / prospecting new sales opportunities with new and existing customers. Responsible for managing sales profitability, product penetration and product mix with all customers.
  • Ensures direct reports regularly plan and achieve individual / team objectives.  Responsible for following up on a frequent basis to ensure direct reports’ activities align with objectives.  Assigns work, provides direction, and gives feedback to direct reports.  
  • Conducts joint sales calls with sales representatives and/or Territory Managers to identify opportunities and maintain / build customer relationships (including coaching / mentoring).   
  • Recommends product or service enhancements and resolves issues to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential.
  • Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase sales effectiveness / profitability.  Assists in developing sales plans and budgets for achieving sales goals.  Addresses non-performing accounts and products.
  • Manages inventory requirements for existing customer programs and supports proper inventory levels for new products, programs, and growth.  Initiates and enforces pricing policies / pricing execution. 
  • Varying levels of travel on behalf of the company is part of the requirement for this role.
  • Leads team; selects/hires; develops objectives; coaches and evaluates performance.  Ensure direct reports obtain applicable training and development opportunities to enhance performance, development, and contributions to the company.  Holds direct reports accountable for individual and team performance.  Addresses performance issues appropriately and timely.

 

What We're looking For:

  • BA / BS required in Business, related field or equivalent industry experience preferred.  MS / MA / MBA a plus.
  • 6-8 years of experience in related areas of responsibility preferred. 
  • Sales experience, knowledge of product pricing, purchasing, account management, warehousing, transportation, safety, business development, customer service and support. 
  • Financial acumen (specifically financial statements), strong analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative). 
  • Planning, negotiation, decision-making, innovation, change management, persuasiveness and strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Teamwork, ability to function well at different levels in a team environment.  Territory management and target marketing skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, sense of urgency, innovative, problem solving. 
  • Customer focused. 
  • Consultative and relationship selling skills. 
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software and relevant sales systems technology.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate based on the position requirements and market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
