What This Role Is...
As a Sales Manager In Training, the primary function of this position is to develop a deep understanding of sales management by performing the steps in the sales cycle and participating in daily management activities. The Sales Manager In Training is also responsible for thinking at a strategic level, recommending process improvements, and understanding our business philosophy. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Sales Department at CITY Home.
Position Title: Sales Manager In Training
Location: Various CITY Home showroom locations
Reports To: Showroom Manager
Department: Sales
Salary: $20/HR
What You'll Do...
As a Sales Manager In Training, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Guest Service (Face to Face) - Utilizes the opportunity system for Guest interactions and performs the sales cycle with World Class Service throughout. Greets and welcomes Guests. Presents and demonstrates products. Discusses features and benefits. Offers all available services (i.e., In-Home Service, Stain Removal, etc.), close the sale processes orders (i.e., creates invoices, schedules deliveries, provides finance options, etc.). Answers in-store phone call calls and assists Guests with questions and concerns
  • Customer Account Management - Monitors sales and advises Customers of any changes. Resolves customer issues. Provides Customers with after sale follow-up and performs Customer retention strategies (i.e. thank you calls, after sale calls, etc.) Monitors the backorder list and updates Customers accordingly. Documents and reports Customer relationship management activities via information technology systems
  • Professional Development - Obtains certifications and training related to job performance and product knowledge within specified period of time. Uses the online Learning Management System (LMS) to obtain knowledge and development. Attends Instructor Lead Training (ILT) sessions to obtain knowledge and development. Reviews new product information. Learns the AS400 database, inventory and reporting systems. Learns all tasks related to the opening, closing, daily showroom management and merchandising of the showroom. Completes all assigned personal and team-based projects and activities. Continues learning all processes to prepare for the next step as a Showroom Manager (SM).

Additional duties and responsibilities as a Sales Manager In Training:
  • Personal Business Development - Initiates contact with non-purchasing Guests during promotions and special events. Performs Personal Business Development strategies. Follows-up with Guests who make appointments and ensures they maintain the appointments. Contacts previous customers to sell related or additional products. Generates leads through personal efforts outside of the store environment.
  • Visual Merchandising/Perform Sales Administrative Duties - Performs the responsibilities necessary to open and close a store. Maintains price tagging and a clean & organized store environment. Maintains showroom merchandising and supplies. Reviews and updates voice mail. Reviews sales performance data. Participates in inventory and inventory preparation.
  • Team Involvement - Cooperates with all Associates to ensure the success of the store. Attends and begins to conduct Ultimate Update meetings to align personal and team efforts to the overall goals of the company.

  • Education & Work Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, preferred.
    • Experience in a related environment recommended
  • Work environment & Schedule:
    • 42.5 hours per week including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Physical & Travel Demands:
    • Prolonged standing, walking
    • Light lifting when presenting products and merchandise to Customers

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
