Sales Development Representative Contract information

What are Sales Development Representative (SDR) contract roles?

Sales Development Representative (SDR) contract roles are temporary positions focused on generating and qualifying leads for a company’s sales team. Contract SDRs typically reach out to potential customers, initiate conversations, and set up meetings for account executives. These roles are often project-based and can range from a few months to a year, providing flexibility for both the employer and the employee. Contract positions may offer exposure to different industries and can be a stepping stone to permanent sales roles. The primary goal of an SDR contract role is to drive pipeline growth through effective prospecting.

What is the difference between Sales Development Representative Contract vs Inside Sales Representative?

AspectSales Development Representative ContractInside Sales Representative
CredentialsTypically requires a sales or marketing background, with some roles accepting entry-level candidatesOften requires similar sales experience or related certifications, with a focus on ongoing sales skills
Work EnvironmentUsually in an office or remote setting, focused on lead generation and outreachInvolves client interaction, product demos, and closing sales, often in an office or remote environment
Employer & Industry UsageCommon in tech, SaaS, and B2B industries; used for short-term or project-based rolesWidely used across industries for ongoing sales roles, often full-time

While both roles involve sales activities, a Sales Development Representative Contract primarily focuses on lead generation and prospecting on a temporary or contract basis. In contrast, an Inside Sales Representative typically handles the full sales cycle, including closing deals, often in a permanent position. Understanding these differences helps job seekers align their skills and career goals with the right role.

What are the typical challenges faced by Sales Development Representatives working on a contract basis, and how can they navigate them?

Contract Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) often face challenges such as quickly adapting to new products, learning industry-specific sales tactics, and integrating into established teams. Since contract roles may be shorter-term, building relationships and demonstrating value early on are essential. Successful contract SDRs focus on proactive communication, rapid learning, and leveraging proven outreach techniques to exceed targets and potentially secure longer-term opportunities within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sales Development Representative (Contract), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Development Representative (Contract), you need strong communication, lead generation, and prospecting skills, often supported by a bachelor's degree or relevant sales experience. Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce, email automation tools, and sales engagement platforms is typically required. Outstanding organization, resilience, and the ability to build rapport quickly are crucial soft skills for success in this role. These abilities drive effective pipeline development, enable smooth handoffs to account executives, and directly influence revenue growth.

Job description

Build Relationships. Solve Problems. Grow Your Sales Career.

At Delaware Homebuyers, our mission is simple:

Meeting people where they are and serving them first as Jesus would.

We're looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) who enjoys talking with people, asking thoughtful questions, and helping homeowners through important life decisions.

In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for homeowners considering selling their property. Your job isn't to pressure people into making a decision—it's to understand their situation, determine whether we're the right fit to help, and schedule qualified appointments for our Home Buying Specialists.

If you're coachable, competitive, enjoy talking with people, and want to build a long-term career in sales, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibility is to identify qualified homeowners and move them through our sales process.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Answer inbound calls from homeowners interested in selling their property.
  • Make outbound calls to new leads, previous leads, and homeowners from targeted prospect lists.
  • Build rapport and establish trust through meaningful conversations.
  • Learn each homeowner's situation, motivation, and timeline.
  • Qualify opportunities using our proven sales process.
  • Schedule qualified appointments for our Home Buying Specialists.
  • Maintain accurate notes and activities within our CRM.
  • Execute structured follow-up plans through phone calls, text messages, and other communication channels.
  • Participate in daily outbound calling blocks to generate new opportunities.
  • Work closely with our acquisitions team to provide an outstanding customer experience.
  • Participate in weekly coaching, role-playing, and call reviews designed to continually improve your sales skills.
What Success Looks Like

Successful Sales Development Representatives:

  • Build trust quickly with homeowners.
  • Ask thoughtful questions instead of rushing conversations.
  • Listen carefully to understand each homeowner's goals.
  • Follow our proven sales process consistently.
  • Stay organized and maintain excellent CRM records.
  • Continuously improve through coaching and feedback.
  • Schedule high-quality appointments that convert into contracts.
What We're Looking For

We're less concerned about years of experience than we are about mindset.

Ideal candidates are:

  • Coachable
  • Growth-oriented
  • Strong communicators
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable using technology and CRM systems
  • Able to manage multiple follow-ups at once
  • Self-motivated
  • High integrity
  • Selfless
  • Comfortable working toward measurable goals

Previous sales, customer service, customer success, business development, recruiting, banking, hospitality, retail sales, or call center experience is helpful but not required.

Compensation

Expected first-year earnings: $40,000–$50,000+

  • Base pay plus uncapped performance-based commissions
  • Additional earning potential based on results
Benefits
  • 10 days of Paid Time Off (accrued monthly)
  • 5 Paid Sick Days
  • Paid Company Holidays
  • Healthcare reimbursement benefit after 90 days of employment
  • Employer-paid life insurance after 90 days of employment
  • Ongoing sales training and coaching
  • Career growth opportunities
