Overview of the Role


The Sales Development Manager will be responsible for growing C.A. Ferolie's business throughout the Metro New York and Long Island market, calling on distributors, wholesalers, and assigned clients across the NYC Metropolitan area to Long Island.

This role will build and manage strategic relationships to achieve assortment, merchandising, pricing, promotional, distribution, volume, market share, and profitability objectives.


The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the Metro New York distributor and wholesale channel and have established relationships with key regional distributors and trade partners. Experience working with organizations such as Sultana Distributors, Jetro/Restaurant Depot, and inner-city Korean distributors, and NYC Grocery Retailers, as well as other regional wholesale and distribution partners throughout the market, is highly preferred.

The Sales Development Manager will provide strategic recommendations and flawless execution to support client objectives while helping customers grow their business through innovation, data-driven insights, and strong partnerships.


What You Will Do

  • Develop and manage relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and key decision-makers throughout the Metro New York and Long Island territory.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with regional and national wholesale and distribution partners while expanding the distribution, assortment, and visibility of assigned client brands.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of client products, objectives, policies, personnel, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish sales objectives and develop strategic plans that drive volume, market share, distribution, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with key distributors and wholesalers, including organizations such as Sultana Distributors, Jetro/Restaurant Depot, inner-city Korean distributors, and NYC Grocery Retailers, as well as other regional trade partners.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Metro New York distributor and wholesale landscape, including account structures, distribution networks, category trends, competitive activity, and emerging growth opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, purchasing behavior, promotional activity, competitive dynamics, and demographic shifts to identify business opportunities.
  • Manage client and customer relationships across innovation, assortment, pricing, promotional programming, merchandising, shelving, distribution, and claims management.
  • Present new products, category recommendations, promotional programs, and strategic business opportunities to distributors and wholesalers.
  • Support customer category growth objectives through data-driven recommendations, business reviews, and exceptional marketplace execution.
  • Manage client and customer expectations while maintaining accurate forecasts, promotional calendars, pricing, budgets, and sales reporting.
  • Utilize SharePoint, customer portals, client portals, syndicated data, CRM platforms, and internal reporting systems to effectively manage the business.
  • Establish professional and consistent communication with clients, customers, distributors, supervisors, and internal business partners.
  • Proactively identify and communicate business risks, customer concerns, service issues, and growth opportunities.
  • Partner collaboratively with internal sales teams, client teams, distributor personnel, and customer contacts to ensure successful execution of sales initiatives.
  • Participate in training and professional development programs designed to strengthen leadership, communication, analytical,  negotiation, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, and collaboration in all business interactions.
  • Adhere to C.A. Ferolie's Code of Business Conduct and all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, or four to ten years of relevant sales, account management, business development, or consumer packaged goods experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience selling within the distributor and wholesale channel is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with distributors, wholesalers, or consumer packaged goods manufacturers is preferred.
  • Existing relationships within the Metro New York and Long Island distributor and wholesale market, particularly with Sultana Distributors, Jetro/Restaurant Depot, inner-city Korean distributors, and NY City Grocery retailers or similar regional trade partners, are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, negotiate programs, identify growth opportunities, and execute strategic sales initiatives.
  • Experience within confectionery, snacks, beverages, foodservice, frozen, general merchandise, or other wholesale/distributor-driven categories is beneficial.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, distributors, and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, net sales, margins, promotional spending, forecasts, inventory metrics, pallet configurations, and profitability.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customers, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the Metro New York and Long Island territory.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
