JOB DESCRIPTION - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Title: Business Development Manager - Outside Sales Rep / Account Executive
Reports to: Director of Sales and Marketing
Job Type: Full-time (Exempt)
Compensation: $60,000-$100,000+ annually (base + performance-based commissions)
Location: Charlotte, NC (local candidates, or those willing to relocate, will be preferred)
Network Essentials is seeking a proactive, driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our mission of transforming technology into a strategic asset for the businesses we serve. This role is pivotal in advancing Network Essentials' growth, focusing on building relationships with high-value prospects and converting them into long-term partners.
As the BDM, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of Network Essentials by engaging with organizations that value long-term partnerships and proactive IT solutions - including managed IT services, cybersecurity, and compliance-focused offerings such as CMMC readiness and vCISO services. Collaborating with our marketing and account management teams, you will help drive the growth of our managed services and custom project offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Prospect Engagement & Relationship Building
  • Identify and target high-value prospects aligned with our Target Client Profiles and approved by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Build trust and communicate Network Essentials' value proposition as a leading technology partner through direct outreach, networking, and events.
  • Engage with prospects to understand their challenges, goals, and IT needs.
  • Build and manage a self-sourced pipeline through referrals, COIs, direct outreach, cold call outbound tool, networking, and local business community involvement.
  • Drive qualified opportunities through proactive outreach, including calls, emails, onsite visits, and industry events.
  • Schedule and conduct discovery calls and presentations to convert leads into sales opportunities, partnering with technical resources for deeper technical discovery when needed.
  • Develop tailored proposals that align with client goals and emphasize ROI, with support from the account management team.
  • Upon successful closure, collaborate with the service delivery team to ensure a seamless handoff and onboarding experience for new clients.
  • Work with Marketing to align outreach efforts with campaigns and event-driven leads.
  • Stay informed on Network Essentials' service and product offerings and actively pursue professional growth to enhance sales effectiveness.
  • 3+ years of experience in outside sales or business development, preferably in technology consulting or IT managed services.
  • Proven ability to identify, engage, and convert prospects into recurring-revenue clients.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders, including business owners and executives.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking to recommend tailored solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., ConnectWise, HubSpot) and sales enablement platforms is a plus.
  • Lead Conversion Rate: Consistently convert sales-qualified leads into opportunities.
  • Pipeline Growth: Maintain steady growth in prospects and opportunities within the sales funnel.
  • Revenue Contribution: Meet or exceed quarterly targets, including growth of new Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR).
  • Prospect Engagement: Deliver regular, high-quality interactions that build trust and foster long-term partnerships.
