Job description

Description

Role Purpose:

The Director of Operations provides enterprise-level operational leadership for Sal's Pizza, ensuring consistent execution, financial discipline, and scalable systems across all company-owned locations. This role sets operational strategy, standards, and priorities while holding General Managers accountable for results.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Strategy & Performance Oversight

  • Own overall operational performance across all Sal's Pizza locations.
  • Establish annual and quarterly operational priorities tied to revenue growth, margin improvement, and guest experience.
  • Review consolidated KPIs (sales, labor, food cost, turnover, guest satisfaction) and identify systemic risks or opportunities.
  • Hold General Manager(s) accountable for results- not execution of daily tasks.

2. Financial & P&L Discipline (In Partnership with Finance)

  • Partner with Finance on labor modeling, food cost controls, and operational forecasting.
  • Review labor strategy, staffing models, and productivity targets.
  • Approve corrective action strategies for underperforming locations.
  • Ensure operational decisions align with financial objectives and growth plans.

3. Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Directly manage and develop General Manager(s).
  • Set clear expectations, goals, and performance standards for field leadership.
  • Lead succession planning for operational leadership roles.
  • Serve as a senior decision-maker on performance management, promotions, and terminations within Operations.

4. Systems, Standards & Scalability

  • Own operational standards, SOPs, and execution frameworks.
  • Ensure consistency across locations without micromanaging store-level execution.
  • Evaluate operational tools, technology, and workflows that improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead rollouts of new initiatives, menus, systems, or process changes.

5. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the primary Operations liaison to HR, Finance, Marketing, and Training.
  • Partner with HR on workforce planning, leadership development, and culture initiatives.
  • Support franchise strategy alignment (without day-to-day franchise management).
