Coordinate and manage the work of employees who repair and maintain buildings and facilities. Prepare work schedules. assign work, and inspect work performed by the maintenance staff. Provide training, scheduling, and job performance evaluations for maintenance and grounds crew. Serve as first-line of communication contact for off-hour emergencies and may be part of a 24-hour on-call rotation. Responsible for ensuring that safety training is provided to staff and that proper safety practices have been followed. The manager makes sure that groundskeepers and other staff are trained in maintenance activities and are following recommended operating procedures. Typical duties included assisting and reporting to property manager daily, supervising the maintenance staff by determining workloads and schedules, developing and implementing policies and procedures, evaluating staff and making hiring or termination recommendations, negotiating contracts and inspecting contractors' work to ensure that safe work practices and operating procedures have been followed, ordering materials and supplies, and performing field maintenance tasks.
