Job description

Job Summary

The Field Safety Professional supports JEX Technologies’ mining service operations by providing on‐site safety leadership, regulatory guidance, and proactive risk management across active mine sites. This role ensures that crews operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with MSHA regulations, customer requirements, and JEX Technologies’ internal safety standards. The position is field‐based, highly visible, and central to maintaining a culture where safety is owned by every employee.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Field Presence

  • Serve as the primary safety representative at assigned mine sites, maintaining a strong, consistent field presence.
  • Coach, mentor, and influence frontline employees and supervisors to reinforce safe behaviors and operational discipline.
  • Conduct daily field inspections, hazard assessments, and task observations to identify and mitigate risks.

Regulatory Compliance (MSHA Focus)

  • Ensure full compliance with MSHA Parts 46/48, site‐specific rules, and customer safety requirements.
  • Lead or support MSHA inspections, accompany inspectors, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, training records, and compliance files.

Training & Workforce Development

  • Deliver toolbox talks, task‐specific training, and refresher sessions for crews.
  • Support new‐hire onboarding and site‐specific training requirements.
  • Reinforce JEX Technologies’ safety expectations, procedures, and life‐critical rules.

Incident Prevention & Response

  • Lead or support incident investigations using root‐cause analysis methodologies.
  • Develop corrective and preventive action plans and verify their effectiveness in the field.
  • Track leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

Operational Collaboration

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and project management teams to integrate safety into planning and execution.
  • Participate in pre‐task planning, JHAs, and change‐management reviews.
  • Support customer engagement by representing JEX Technologies professionally and proactively.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial, construction, or mining safety roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of MSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and mining operations.
  • Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple mine sites.

Preferred

  • 5+ years of MSHA‐related safety supervision in mining or mining services.
  • Experience supporting surface mining, underground mining, or heavy equipment operations.
  • MSHA Instructor (IS) certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Professional safety certifications (COSS, COSM, CMSP, or similar).
  • Experience with contractor management systems (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta).
