Job description

About the Position

Trout Trucking Co., Inc. is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to support our Safety Department and help maintain DOT and FMCSA compliance across our trucking operations.

This position is ideal for someone with transportation, trucking, DOT compliance, ELD, or safety administration experience who enjoys working with drivers, reviewing records, identifying compliance issues, and keeping documentation accurate and current.

The Safety Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Safety, drivers, dispatch, operations, and Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the company’s ELD system and review driver logs for accuracy and compliance.

• Conduct regular Hours of Service (HOS) audits and identify potential violations or compliance concerns.

• Communicate with drivers regarding log corrections, missing information, and compliance requirements.

• Track and monitor CDL expiration dates, medical cards, endorsements, and other required driver credentials.

• Maintain accurate safety and compliance records.

• Assist with Driver Qualification file documentation and audits.

• Review safety documentation and follow up on missing or expired information.

• Assist with DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.

• Maintain organized electronic and physical safety records.

• Assist the Safety Department with preparing documentation for internal and external audits.

• Communicate professionally with drivers, terminal personnel, management, and other departments regarding safety and compliance matters.

• Provide administrative and compliance support to the Director of Safety.

• Perform other safety-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation, trucking, safety, DOT compliance, or a related field preferred.

• Familiarity with FMCSA regulations and Hours of Service requirements strongly preferred.

• Experience working with ELD systems preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Comfortable communicating directly with CDL drivers regarding compliance issues.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Ability to maintain confidential information.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow-up requirements.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate degree, safety training, DOT compliance training, or related certifications are preferred but not required.
