Job description

Summary
The Safety Coordinator provides direct, hands-on safety leadership and field support across all tank cleaning, maintenance, and permit-required confined space operations, ensuring safe work execution and compliance with company, client and regulatory requirements. This position will be responsible for conducting site hazard analyses, enforcing company and client safety policies and auditing PPE compliance. This is a proactive role that requires frequent interaction with field crews to identify risks and implement practical, immediate, and effective safety solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide support by maintaining a visible presence to the field by performing site visits, assessments, and field safety audits.
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of HS&E programs on project sites.
  • Review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards to ensure compliance.
  • Inform management team members of any new or conflictive matters that could negatively impact the project, client and/or the company's assets.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) for projects to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and community.
  • Participate in and assist with internal and external safety-related audits.
  • Provide direction to project managers, lead operators and workers as necessary.
  • Perform incident and near miss investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions where necessary. Injury/Illness case management
  • Ensure corrective actions are followed up on and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure personnel are meeting Company's and client's safety expectations.
  • Oversee the Safety Training Matrix and ensures all personnel training is completed in accordance with company, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of health, safety and/or environmental experience working in the industrial or refining industries.
  • Industrial Rescue experience a plus
  • TWIC
  • 70-75% travel required to project sites
  • Must have a phone and reliable transportation
  • 24-hour call-out- 7 days a week (first point of contact)
  • May require the need to work irregular hours, nights, weekends and/or holidays
  • Successful completion of OSHA and industry standard training as a condition of employment
  • Successful completion of background, drug, and alcohol testing
  • Must be qualified to drive a Company vehicle
  • Physically capable of performing all duties and responsibilities for his/her position
