JOB TITLE: Safe Place Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Child & Youth Services

JOB STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Summary:
Support the Safe Place program by coordinating community outreach, responding to youth in crisis, and maintaining relationships with schools, businesses, and community organizations. This role plays a key part in ensuring access to immediate help and safety for youth in need.
Key Responsibilities:
ยท Collaborate with Safe Place Coordinator to ensure program sites operate effectively as Safe Place shelters
ยท Respond to Safe Place calls and coordinate appropriate crisis response and follow-up
ยท Recruit, train, and support Safe Place sites, volunteers, and community partners
ยท Conduct presentations in schools and community organizations to promote program services
ยท Participate in community events and represent the Safe Place program
ยท Develop and maintain relationships with schools, businesses, and community stakeholders
ยท Track program data and maintain records for reporting and evaluation
ยท Assist with development of newsletters and program communications
ยท Facilitate or support Safe Place Advisory Committee activities
ยท Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all situations
ยท Participate in ongoing training and professional development
Qualifications & Skills:
ยท Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in crisis situations
ยท Excellent written and verbal communication skills
ยท Ability to assess and respond to behavioral and emotional situations effectively
ยท Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
ยท Ability to train, support, and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community groups
ยท Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
ยท Proficiency with basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet)
Physical & Work Requirements:
ยท Ability to travel within the community for meetings, presentations, and program needs
ยท Valid driverโs license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required
ยท Ability to remain composed and responsive during emotionally intense or crisis situations
ยท Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Certifications & Training Requirements:
ยท CPR and First Aid certification
ยท Bloodborne Pathogens training
ยท CRT (Certified Restraint Training) certification
ยท Human Trafficking (HT 101) certification
ยท โWhat Would I Doโ curriculum certification

Requirements:
Education/Experience Requirements
High School Diploma required and at least one year of experience working with youth and/or diverse populations. Associate degree preferred.
