JOB TITLE: Safe Place Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Child & Youth Services
SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Director of Program & Clinical Operations - Child & Youth Services

JOB STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: ย Monday-Friday; 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm ย
Summary:
Support the Safe Place program by coordinating community outreach, responding to youth in crisis, and maintaining relationships with schools, businesses, and community organizations. This role plays a key part in ensuring access to immediate help and safety for youth in need.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Safe Place Coordinator to ensure program sites operate effectively as Safe Place shelters
Respond to Safe Place calls and coordinate appropriate crisis response and follow-up
Recruit, train, and support Safe Place sites, volunteers, and community partners
Conduct presentations in schools and community organizations to promote program services
Participate in community events and represent the Safe Place program
Develop and maintain relationships with schools, businesses, and community stakeholders
Track program data and maintain records for reporting and evaluation
Assist with development of newsletters and program communications
Facilitate or support Safe Place Advisory Committee activities
Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all situations
Participate in ongoing training and professional development
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in crisis situations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to assess and respond to behavioral and emotional situations effectively
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to train, support, and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community groups
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet)
Physical & Work Requirements:
Ability to travel within the community for meetings, presentations, and program needs
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required
Ability to remain composed and responsive during emotionally intense or crisis situations
Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Certifications & Training Requirements:
CPR and First Aid certification
Bloodborne Pathogens training
CRT (Certified Restraint Training) certification
Human Trafficking (HT 101) certification
"What Would I Do" curriculum certification

Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements
High School Diploma required and at least one year of experience working with youth and/or diverse populations. Associate degree preferred.ย
