DTS is looking for IT System Administrator for our client Position in Livonia, MI

Job Responsibilities:

The Information Technology Administrator is a hands-on technical role responsible for the day-to-day support and operation of the organization’s technology environment. This includes business systems, end-user devices, infrastructure, voice and data connectivity, cloud platforms, and line-of-business applications. Working under the direction of the Director of Information Technology and Cybersecurity, this position collaborates closely with the organization’s Senior Systems Administrator and technology partners to keep systems running, resolve issues promptly, and perform technical work that supports the department’s broader strategic goals. The role requires solid working knowledge of the Microsoft cloud ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure, and the ability to apply that knowledge in a production environment on a Daily basis.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities outlined below are representative of the work required and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be supplemented at any time at the discretion of the Director of Information Technology and Cybersecurity to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Information Technology Infrastructure Support

  1. Maintain, support, and troubleshoot the organization’s IT systems, including but not limited to software, hardware, cloud services, networking components, and business applications, with a focus on system availability, reliability, and performance.
  2. Administer the organization’s cloud and identity platforms, including but not limited to the Microsoft 365 tenant, Entra ID (Azure AD), conditional access policies, license management, and related identity and access management services, as well as any platforms adopted in the future.
  3. Configure, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot end-user devices and endpoints using enterprise management tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Intune, device compliance policies, application deployment, configuration profiles, Windows Autopilot, and any successor or complementary technologies.
  4. Support cloud-based infrastructure and services, including but not limited to Azure virtual networking, storage, resource management, and other cloud resources within the organization’s subscriptions or tenants.
  5. Follow, help enforce, and contribute to the improvement of IT operational standards, policies, and procedures that align with organizational requirements, applicable regulatory obligations, and industry frameworks.
  6. Proactively monitor the health and performance of IT infrastructure and services using available tools and methods; identify developing issues early and take corrective action or escalate appropriately before they affect operations.
  7. Support the organization’s cybersecurity posture within daily IT operations, including but not limited to endpoint protection, identity and access management, conditional access, vulnerability management, and security monitoring.
  8. Assist with the development, execution, and periodic testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to protect IT systems, data, and organizational operations.
  9. Must have periodic availability to respond to critical IT issues outside of normal business hours.

Service Delivery and Vendor Coordination

Coordinate day-to-day technical activities with the MSP and other service providers to support consistent, high-quality IT service delivery across the organization.

Maintain productive working relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and business partners; serve as a reliable point of contact for routine operational matters and escalate issues as appropriate.

 

Special Projects

Carry out assigned tasks within IT projects and initiatives, contributing to on-time delivery within the defined scope and budget.

Work with internal and external stakeholders as directed to gather requirements, clarify timelines, and confirm deliverables that support business objectives.

Escalate project risks, issues, and resource concerns to the project lead or Director on a regular cadence.

Other Responsibilities

Recommend and help implement practical improvements to IT operations, processes, systems, and tools based on firsthand experience, observed gaps, and industry best practices.

Stay current on industry developments, emerging technologies, and relevant best practices; share applicable findings with the IT team and contribute to technology planning discussions.

Evaluate, test, and when approved, deploy new tools, technologies, and approaches that may improve the efficiency, effectiveness, or security posture of the IT function.

Attend and participate in industry conferences, technology groups, training, and peer events as directed.

Obtain and maintain relevant technology certifications as encouraged by the organization.

Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned or as necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Department and the organization.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification

Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

One or more current Microsoft certifications encouraged (e.g., MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator, SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator, AZ-104: Azure Administrator, AZ-900: Azure Fundamentals, or MD-102: Endpoint Administrator).

CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification encouraged. ITIL Foundation or equivalent IT service management certification is also encouraged.

Working knowledge of NIST, MITRE, CIS, or other cybersecurity and IT service management frameworks.

Experience

A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in IT operations or IT support, with meaningful proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration and cloud services.

Demonstrated experience administering Entra ID (Azure AD), including user lifecycle management, group policies, conditional access, and single sign-on configurations.

Demonstrated experience deploying and managing endpoints through Microsoft Intune, including compliance policies, configuration profiles, application packaging, and Windows Autopilot.

Practical experience with one or more Azure services (e.g., Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, Azure Storage, Azure Monitor).

Experience working alongside Managed Services Providers (MSPs) and coordinating with external technology vendors.

Experience supporting or participating in IT projects with a record of meeting assigned deliverables and deadlines.

Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and principles as they apply to IT operations, including endpoint protection, identity governance, and security monitoring.

Experience in the public sector, particularly local government or municipal environments, is preferred.

A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft cloud ecosystem: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Teams administration.

Ability to configure and troubleshoot conditional access policies, multi-factor authentication (MFA), FIDO2/passkey configurations, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM) eligible assignments within Entra ID.

Ability to build and maintain Intune device compliance and configuration policies, manage Windows Autopilot deployments, and troubleshoot enrollment and policy conflicts.

Demonstrated proficiency in networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN) and how they apply to hybrid and cloud environments.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations quickly, identify root causes, and either resolve or appropriately escalate issues.

Well organized and detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, including in remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 productivity applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and familiarity with PowerShell scripting for Microsoft 365 and Azure administration.

Travel

Must maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license for the duration of employment.

Must be able to travel with occasional overnight business trips. Travel could be outside of Michigan.
