Job description

Position Purpose 

The Running Backs Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in implementing our offensive scheme and technique. Specifically, you will oversee and coach the running back position.

Essential Functions and Duties 

  • Responsible for teaching and overseeing the running backs.  
  • Responsible for being the head coach's locker room liaison. This responsibility will include, but not be limited to, maintaining the Warrior Way inside the locker room, housekeeping, communication, and proper equipment wear for our US football program. 

  • Responsible for breaking down and presenting the opponent's defensive blitz package. 

  • Coordinate and communicate with collegiate football programs regarding recruiting visits and athlete exposure at Liberty Christian 

  • Support and participate in all football program activities, including practices, games, offseason training, meetings, and special events 

  • Perform additional assignments and duties as directed to support the overall success of the football program 

  • Demonstrate Christlike character and conduct consistent with the Warrior Way, modeling integrity, discipline, and leadership for student-athletes both on and off the field 

  • Adhere to Student Protection Program (SPP) procedures and trainings 

  • Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong knowledge of offensive and defensive line systems, run schemes, blocking techniques, and pass protection concepts 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with players, parents, coaching staff and administration 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately 

  • Ability to represent the athletic department in a professional and Christlike manner 

  • Ability to instruct, motivate, and develop student-athletes in both skill and character 

  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach 

  • Ability to assist and oversee JV development as assigned 

  • Ability to model discipline, accountability, and teamwork 

Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 

  • Previous football coaching experience preferred, particularly at the running back position 

  • Demonstrated experience teaching football fundamentals and position-specific techniques 

  • Experience analyzing game film and preparing scouting reports preferred 

  • Experience working with high school student-athletes preferred 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively move on practice fields and sidelines for extended periods of time 

  • Ability to demonstrate drills, blocking techniques, and football fundamentals as needed 

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., bags, sled components, shields, coolers) 

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain 

  • Ability to travel with the team to away games and events as required 

  • Ability to maintain focus and sound judgment in fast-paced, high-pressure game and practice environments 

  • Regular use of close and distance vision, including film review and on-field supervision 

  • May require evening, weekend, and off-season commitments consistent with the football schedule 

  • Seasonal, part-time position aligned with the football calendarÂ
