Job description

Machine Operator

The Roto-Molding Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring rotational molding equipment to manufacture quality plastic products according to company specifications and production schedules. This position ensures safe machine operation, maintains production efficiency, performs basic quality checks, and supports overall plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate rotational molding machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load molds with appropriate materials and prepare molds for production cycles.
  • Monitor machine temperatures, cycle times, and product quality throughout production.
  • Remove finished molded parts from molds and inspect for defects or inconsistencies.
  • Trim excess material and prepare products for secondary operations or packaging.
  • Perform routine quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Follow production schedules and work instructions to meet daily output goals.
  • Complete production records, quality documentation, and downtime reports accurately.
  • Perform basic machine cleaning and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Identify equipment or product issues and communicate concerns to supervisors or maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with material handling, mold changes, and other production duties as assigned.

Typical Day-to-Day Functions

  • Review production schedule and work instructions at the beginning of the shift.
  • Inspect molds, machines, and work area for safety and operational readiness.
  • Load raw material into molds according to product specifications.
  • Operate rotational molding machines and monitor production cycles.
  • Observe machine temperatures, timing, and product consistency during operation.
  • Remove finished parts from molds safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect molded parts for defects such as holes, warping, thin spots, or incomplete fills.
  • Trim excess plastic material and prepare parts for finishing or assembly.
  • Use hand tools, cutting tools, and measuring devices as needed.
  • Stack, package, label, or move finished products to designated areas.
  • Complete production counts and quality documentation throughout the shift.
  • Communicate machine issues, material shortages, or quality concerns to supervisors or maintenance.
  • Assist with mold changes, cleaning molds, and preparing equipment for the next production run.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Support other production areas as needed to meet operational goals.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read work instructions and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good attendance and reliability required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist, crouch, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, and moving machinery.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule:

Weekend shift – 6am – 6:30pm, Friday – Sunday, overtime as scheduled.

$20/ hour ($1 shift differential for second shift), starting DOE
