Job Title: Machine Operator – Grinding Department (Medical Manufacturing)

Job Description

This role focuses on operating manual and automated grinding and polishing equipment to process fine wires used in medical applications. You will work on the production floor in a non–clean room environment, ensuring that parts meet strict dimensional and quality standards. The position involves standing for most of the shift, using floor mats for comfort, and following detailed work instructions to support a regulated medical manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual and automated grinding and buffing machines to process wires for medical applications.
• Feed wires into buffing machines and transfer finished parts to automatic measuring equipment to verify they are within specified tolerances.
• Monitor measuring machines and respond appropriately when parts are out of tolerance, including contacting a technician to adjust equipment as needed.
• Perform visual inspections of parts to ensure proper finish and quality.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to check dimensions and confirm parts meet specifications.
• Follow written work instructions and production documentation accurately and consistently.
• Complete required production and quality documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with medical manufacturing standards.
• Work comfortably around larger production machines and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Handle very thin medical coils and small components with care, using excellent hand dexterity and attention to detail.
• Participate in cross-training to learn additional machine stations and potentially work in clean room areas if interested.
• Support production, assembly, packaging, and kitting activities as needed to meet workflow and customer demand.
• Communicate clearly with technicians, team members, and supervisors regarding equipment issues, quality concerns, and production status.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 months of manufacturing or production experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions in English.
• Excellent hand dexterity for handling thin medical coils and small components.
• Comfort working around larger automated and manual machines that require careful attention to safety.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting parts and verifying measurements.
• Ability to use basic measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers or willingness to learn.
• Reliable work history and consistent attendance in previous roles.
• Clear and professional communication skills to explain issues and collaborate with the production team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods while working at machine stations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in production, assembly, machine operation, packaging, or kitting.
• Experience in medical assembly, clean room work, or electronic assembly.
• Interest in working in a regulated medical manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation.
• Strong motivation to build a career in manufacturing and medical device production.
• Willingness to cross-train on multiple machine stations and potentially work in clean room areas.
• Comfort using measurement equipment and learning new technologies and processes.
• Ability to maintain focus and quality standards on repetitive tasks.
• Openness to working a 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Work Environment

This position is based in a regulated medical manufacturing environment on the non–clean room production floor. The shop is well-lit, very clean, highly organized, and housed in a modern building constructed within the last few years. You will work primarily at machine stations that are designed with safety in mind, operating larger equipment that requires attention to safety procedures and mechanical aptitude. The work involves handling very thin medical coils and small parts, which requires fine motor skills and careful handling. The role is mainly standing throughout the shift, with floor mats provided for comfort, and may include some sitting depending on the station. The schedule is 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The facility includes a spacious break room equipped with vending machines, refrigerators, microwaves, and other amenities to support comfortable breaks. The overall environment is professional, regulated to meet medical industry standards, and designed to support productivity, safety, and employee comfort. Once fully trained, you may wear headphones while working, in accordance with company policies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Circle Pines, MN.

The pay range for this position is $22.43 - $22.43/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
