As a Rotating Equipment Engineer, your mission is to serve as a key technical expert responsible for evaluating complex rotating equipment repair challenges, developing engineering solutions, and providing technical leadership to service center operations. You will exercise independent engineering judgment to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of Atlas Copco's rotating equipment. The role delivers high quality aftermarket solutions that restore equipment integrity, improve operational efficiency, and uphold Atlas Copco's standards across oil & gas, chemical, and industrial gas applications. You will report to the Repair Facility Supervisor.
You will
  • Engineering Design & Technical Support:
    • Perform engineering calculations and tolerance analyses to validate repair and redesign efforts.
    • Review, approve, and release design documentation for repaired components and assemblies.
  • Repair & Aftermarket Engineering:
    • Provide real-time engineering support during inspection, assembly, and testing phases.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing repair lead time and cost.
  • Quality, Safety, & Compliance:
    • Ensure all repair and design work meets Atlas Copco quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Project Execution & Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and service teams to ensure smooth execution of repair activities.
  • Cross-Functional & Field Support:
    • Collaborate with Atlas Copco product companies within our division to exchange technical information, support component design improvements, and ensure alignment between field repair practices and original equipment specifications.
To succeed, you will need
We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and perspectives and are excited to see what you bring to the role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in an engineering role supporting rotating equipment, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably PTC Creo) and engineering documentation systems.
In return, we offer
  • Culture of trust and accountability: A workplace built on transparency, personal responsibility, and mutual respect. We empower you to make informed engineering decisions, own outcomes, and communicate openly, knowing you have a supportive team and leadership structure behind you. We trust our engineers to do what's right for the customer, the equipment, and the business.
  • Lifelong learning and career growth: Access to professional development, internal technical training, and opportunities to grow within a global industrial organization known for innovation and long-term career pathways.
  • Innovation powered by people: An opportunity to work hands-on with complex rotating machinery that powers critical industries: oil & gas, chemical, and industrial gas, where your engineering decisions directly influence equipment reliability and customer success.
  • Comprehensive compensation and benefits: Enjoy competitive compensation, generous paid time off (vacation, sick days, and holidays), a 401(k) with up to 6% company match, and flexible working hours to support work-life balance. Base salary ranges from $112,000-$134,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Job location
On-Site
Due to the hands-on nature of supporting the rotating equipment and Service Center operations, this role requires you to work primarily on-site at our office in Houston, United States (US) located near the William P. Hobby Airport in Houston. Some scheduling flexibility may be available when work can be completed independently.
