Job description

Rotating Equipment Engineer / Reliability Engineer / Mechanical Engineer

 

New York Metro, Connecticut, New Jersey

 

$165,000 - $180,000 + 20% Bonus

 

A Rotating Equipment Engineer is required to provide fleet-wide engineering support across power generation sites, with a focus on rotating equipment reliability, outage support and continuous improvement.

This role offers a strong salary and bonus package, technical ownership across critical assets, and the opportunity to lead rotating equipment programs covering pumps, motors, steam turbine auxiliaries, gearboxes, bearings, lubrication systems and associated Balance of Plant equipment. Travel will be up to 40% across fleet sites for evaluations, inspections and outage execution.

The Rotating Equipment Engineer / Reliability Engineer / Mechanical Engineer Role:

  • Lead fleet rotating equipment programs covering inspections, condition monitoring, vibration analysis, deficiency tracking and corrective actions
  • Act as the technical point of support for pumps, motors, fans, compressors, gearboxes, couplings, bearings, lubrication systems and turbine auxiliaries
  • Investigate reliability issues including cavitation, electrical faults, bearing and seal degradation, misalignment, balance and vibration
  • Analyse operational and condition data to support root cause analysis and improve equipment reliability and availability
  • Provide engineering support during planned and forced outages, including scope development, repair evaluation and inspection review
  • Review alignment, balance and rotating equipment inspection results, recommending practical engineering solutions
  • Work with plant teams, OEMs and third-party contractors to implement consistent engineering standards and best practice
  • Travel up to 40% across fleet sites to support evaluations, inspections and outage execution

Rotating Equipment Engineer / Reliability Engineer / Mechanical Engineer Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience within power generation
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Electrical, Industrial or related Engineering disciplines may be considered with relevant rotating equipment experience
  • Experience with pumps, motors, turbines, vibration analysis, alignment, lubrication systems and outage support
  • Background in utility, power generation or comparable industrial environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical ability and the ability to manage multiple rotating equipment programs
  • Professional Engineer license preferred but not required
