Job description

Position Summary

The B Technician functions as a skilled-level professional capable of diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle systems, specifically supporting our Hyundai line. This role requires efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with dealership and factory standards. B Technicians play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality repairs while supporting the service department's goals for customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Pay Rate: $34.00+ per hour (Final flat-rate hourly offer is commensurate with experience, skill level, and ASE Certifications).

    • $36.00/hr with 3 years of experience.

    • $38.00/hr with 5 years of experience and a Hyundai or Kia B-level certification.

  • Pay Structure: Flat Rate. Paid based on each job completed and closed (e.g., if a job's flat-rate time is 2 hours, you are paid for 2 hours whether it takes you 1 hour or 3 hours).

  • Bi-Weekly Production Bonus: Earn an additional dollar-amount per hour added to your flat rate based on the total hours turned in a 2-week pay period:

  • 100 Hours: +$1.00/hr
  • 110 Hours: +$1.25/hr
  • 120 Hours: +$1.50/hr
  • 130 Hours: +$1.75/hr
  • 140+ Hours: +$2.00/hr
  • Additional Warranty Production Bonus: B-Level Technicians qualify for an additional $3.00 per hour bonus once they produce 50 or more hours of warranty flag time in a month.

    • Note: Once this monthly threshold is achieved, the $3.00/hr bonus applies retroactively back to hour 1 for all warranty hours produced that month. Paid out on the 15th of the following month.

Schedule
  • 5-day work week (Includes some rotating Saturdays no nights).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform repair and maintenance work as outlined on repair orders with high efficiency and accuracy.
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions (mechanical, electrical, and HVAC) and perform necessary repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with the parts department to secure required components promptly.
  • Complete comprehensive VIDEO multi-point inspections (360 Inspections) to identify potential safety or service needs.
  • Conduct road tests when required to verify repairs or assist test technicians.
  • Save and tag warranty parts or customer-requested parts appropriately.
  • Document all work performed and recommendations clearly on repair orders.
  • Notify service advisors immediately of additional work needed, work not required, or potential delays in completion.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of customer vehicles and report any changes in vehicle condition.
  • Report machinery defects or shop equipment malfunctions to management.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste management and OSHA compliance.
Marginal Duties
  • Participate actively in Hyundai manufacturer-sponsored training and certification events.
  • Stay current with factory technical bulletins and service campaigns.
  • Supervise and mentor apprentice or C-level technicians as assigned.
  • Keep personal and shared shop areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Maintain and return dealership-owned specialty tools and manuals in proper condition.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations

  • Must maintain valid driver's license that meets dealership insurability requirements.
  • You must obtain and maintain all required certifications, licenses, and registrations.
