This Position reports to:
Robotic Rebuild & Repair Manager
Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)
In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the Customer Service Robot Repair and Rebuild unit in achieving the set production targets by adhering to the systems and processes. Each day, you will use tools, machinery and equipment on the Rebuild shop floor. You will also showcase your expertise by reading and interpreting the technical manuals/instructions for disassembly, repair, assembly and testing of ABB robotic products.
The work model for the role is: On-Site, in-person at ABB Robotics Auburn Hills MI.
This role is contributing to the Customer Service Repair business.
You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Conducting all types of repair and refurbishment work to produce fully re-conditioned robots/systems, including industrial robots, paint robots and corresponding controllers.
  • Performing work manually by using hand tools, cranes, fork trucks and light machinery.
  • Carrying out regular quality testing as part of a defined production/repair process.
  • Operating within standard operating procedures and maintaining a clean work area.

Qualifications for the role:
  • You are highly skilled and experienced with ABB robotic products mechanical repair and mechanical repairs in general.
  • Have established advanced skills in robot maintenance. You have 3-5 years of experience in robot repair, field service activities or related functions.
  • Highly adept in problem solving, debug and diagnosis.
  • You are innovative in solving mechanical issues and draw from previous experience.
  • Proven experience of repairing and servicing ABB robots.
  • You are at ease communicating both verbally and in writing. You have experience in using Word, Excel and/or Adobe.
  • You will complete incoming and outgoing technical reports with technical description. Also, you have the ability to describe issues and list repair solutions.
  • You are comfortable researching manuals to locate pertinent information like part numbers, descriptions and processes.
  • Open to travel about 15%

The position offers the following:
  • 40-hour work week, 7am to 3:30pm M-F
  • Overtime is available, but not mandatory
  • Local travel is optional but not mandatory
  • Major tooling, special tooling and custom equipment is provided
  • All safety PPE is provided
More about us:
This position is for a Robot Rebuild/Repair Technician. The Auburn Hills Rebuild dept. is a Global Robotic Repair Center and has the ability to repair, refurbish and upgrade most ABB Robotic products including wrists, motors, electronics and robots. You will be assigned a work cell where you will inspect, write-up reports and repair industrial robots on a daily basis. The dept. has the ability to repair wrists, motors and electrical components associated with the robots and this position will heavily rely on you to repair the robots themselves. Other Techs will assist with the motors and wrist. The robot technician is ultimately responsible for the inspection, specification of parts, assembly, repair, testing, calibration and finalizing of customer owned or pre-owned robots.
Guidelines:
  • This position requires a high school diploma or GED
  • two -year technical degree is desired but not required
  • 5-years experience minimum in the robotic repair/service or related field
  • Field experience or work on-site at customers location is desired.
  • English language is mandatory to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • "Licenses and visa/work permit" to be discussed with HR if needed.
  • This position follows all ABB Robotics LLC. employee rules and regulations.
  • This position is not eligible for remote or off-site work.
