Job description

Job Title:Senior Project Manager/Estimator - Road Construction
Project Locations: Western Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Iowa
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: VP of Operations


Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager/Estimator to lead and oversee road construction projects from initial bid to final completion. This role is responsible for estimating project costs, managing budgets, leading project teams, and ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with all safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates and bids for road construction projects, including grading, paving, utilities, and other civil infrastructure.
  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
  • Lead and manage multiple construction projects simultaneously from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans in coordination with field staff and subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee subcontractor performance.
  • Monitor job costs, prepare change orders, and ensure profitability targets are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Mentor junior staff and support continuous improvement efforts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in heavy civil or road construction.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery and cost control.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (such as HCSS, Bid2Win, or similar), project management tools, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT standards, specifications, and local regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
