A Riveter is a skilled tradesperson who assembles metal parts by fastening them together using rivets. Riveters typically use hand tools, pneumatic rivet guns, or hydraulic presses to install rivets securely. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints or technical drawings.

What does a riveter do?

A typical day for a Riveter involves working on a production floor or in an assembly setting, fastening materials together using hand or power tools according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Riveters often collaborate with other assembly team members, quality inspectors, and supervisors to ensure that the finished product meets required standards. You may work shifts and occasionally handle repetitive tasks while maintaining safety and efficiency. The role often requires standing for long periods, using protective gear, and adhering to strict safety guidelines. This structured environment fosters teamwork and offers opportunities for learning new skills or moving into lead or supervisory roles over time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a riveter?

To thrive as a Riveter, you need good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and basic mechanical aptitude, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with pneumatic riveting tools, safety equipment, and blueprint reading is typically required and sometimes enhanced with on-the-job training or certifications in manufacturing safety.
