Job description

This position primarily involves the development and maintenance of NOV Digital Services Downhole Tools. The Digital Services Downhole Tools team focuses on providing our customers the most advanced measurement devices, and data acquisition & control systems, to enhance their Wired Drill Pipe operations. Our team members are passionate about the pursuit of knowledge, advanced technologies, and the application of advanced engineering and scientific principles. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


   Develop a deep understanding of our diverse business, customers, products, and processes
   Use your skills to make NOV an industry leader by developing new products and product enhancements fast and make improvements to our methods to improve efficiency 
   Improve the brand name by developing the best in industry products by advancing the technology and reliability of current product offering
   Integrate into a talented team which is responsible for the key product lines for Digital Services 
   Become a technical presence in the team and engineering organization by contributing to new concepts, product design reviews, and be an owner & drive the execution of your technical tasks
   Take calculated risk, learn from every experience, and share your knowledge


WORK DAY


   Contribute to the development, analysis, testing, validation, commercialization, and ongoing support of designs for all Digital Services Downhole Tool product lines.
   Involved in design, prototype build, testing, supplier selection, process support, first article inspection, and manufacturing, field & supply chain support. 
   Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities, test sites, vensors, and customer worksites:  rigs, offshore platforms, and drillships.
   Work closely with other engineering disciplines as well as manufacturing to create product documentation at the detail, assembly, and system levels using 3D/2D CAD and document management tools and processes
   Become knowledgeable of our Manufacturing capabilities and Quality processes 
   Work with project managers to accurately estimate individual work efforts, support overall project planning, create defining technical project documentation, manage risk of the project


COMPENTANCIES


   Required: BS Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering / Ability to model dynamic system responses using classical or numerical methods / Proficient in the use of Solidworks, ANSYS, and PDM Vault / Managing documentation of complex assemblies and large bill of materials / Familiarity with GD&T / Ability to read, interpret, and draft drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 Standards

   Beneficial: Product lifecycle management / Experience in design for manufacturing processes of downhole tools including sensor selection, materials used, machining, castings, welding, and assembly / Skilled using commercial FEA for structural analysis and modeling as well as hand calculations for model verification / Experience deriving load paths and free-body force diagrams for mechanical components and systems / Flow/Thermal Analysis experience with CFDesign or similar is beneficial
