Job Description
Job Title: Riveter
Department: Paint / Screen / Rivet
Reports To: Area Supervisor
Location: Binghamton, NY
Position Summary:
The Riveter is responsible for installing and seating riveted and pressed-in components into powder-coated cold rolled steel and stainless-steel cosmetic parts using pneumatic or hydraulic punch press equipment. This role requires precision, attention to cosmetic quality, and careful handling of finished components to prevent scratches or damage. The riveter performs frequent inspections to ensure components are properly seated and meet both functional and cosmetic standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Riveting & Press Operations
    • Operate pneumatic or hydraulic punch presses to install rivets, studs, standoffs, and other pressed-in components.
    • Set up fixtures and tooling to ensure correct component placement and seating depth.
    • Verify correct component orientation and part alignment prior to each press cycle.
  • Quality & Inspection
    • Inspect riveted components for proper seating, alignment, and structural integrity.
    • Perform visual inspections to ensure cosmetic surfaces are free from scratches, dents, or coating damage.
    • Identify and segregate nonconforming parts and report issues to supervision.
  • Component Handling & Protection
    • Handle powder-coated cold rolled steel and stainless steel cosmetic parts with care to prevent surface damage.
    • Use protective materials, fixtures, or handling methods to preserve cosmetic finishes during processing.
  • Documentation & Process Compliance
    • Follow work instructions, drawings, and visual standards.
    • Accurately record completed operations and quantities as required.
  • Safety, Housekeeping & Continuous Improvement
    • Follow all safety procedures related to press operation and material handling.
    • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and properly store tools and fixtures.
    • Suggest improvements to fixturing or processes to improve quality and efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience operating pneumatic or hydraulic presses in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cosmetic quality.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining consistent workmanship.

Working Conditions:
