Position Overview
The Norm Brodsky College of Business at Rider University invites applications for an Acting Assistant Professor of Sport Management position beginning Fall 2026. This is a one-academic-year appointment, with a 4/4 teaching load, service expectations, and opportunities for support of research activities.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate business courses, primarily in Sport Management.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students, guiding academic progress and career preparation.
  • Engage in departmental, college, and university service activities that contribute to the broader mission and values of Rider University.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and innovation in Sport Management, incorporating experiential learning and technology where appropriate.
  • Assist with building and maintaining relationships with a network of sport professionals.
  • Engage in scholarly research in sport management or related disciplines.

Appointment Details
  • Teaching Load: 4 courses per semester (4-4)
  • Opportunity to apply for fellowships and conference travel to support research
  • While this appointment is term-limited to one academic year, there may be additional hiring needs in the future; outstanding candidates may be considered for future appointments that may arise, including tenure-track and non-tenure track positions.
  • The faculty contract is a 10-month contract (September 1, 2026-June 30, 2027)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • ABD or PhD in Sport Management, Business, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence and student engagement.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience advising students or mentoring emerging professionals in sport management.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Relevant professional experience in sport management, athletics administration, or a closely related area.
