Position Summary

Cristo Rey Richmond High School is seeking a highly organized, service-oriented Transportation Manager to lead all aspects of the school's transportation program. Reporting to school leadership, the Transportation Manager ensures students arrive safely, efficiently, and on time for school, Corporate Work Study placements, athletic events, and extracurricular activities.

This position oversees daily transportation operations, supervises drivers, manages fleet maintenance and compliance, coordinates logistics across multiple departments, and serves as the primary liaison among Academic Administration, the Corporate Work Study Program, families, transportation staff, and school leadership.

Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience

What You’ll Do
Transportation Operations
  • Oversee all daily student transportation operations.
  • Develop, manage, and adjust Corporate Work Study transportation routes, hub assignments, and driver schedules.
  • Drive transportation routes as needed, including Hub ? School, School ? Corporate Work Study, Corporate Work Study ? School, and School ? Home.
  • Coordinate transportation for athletics, field trips, extracurricular activities, and school events.
  • Plan daily transportation logistics based on attendance, work placements, weather, traffic conditions, and operational needs.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with Academic Administration to coordinate transportation logistics, attendance updates, and student needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Corporate Work Study Program to support student work placements and deployment schedules.
  • Coordinate transportation services with Athletics, Campus Ministry, College Counseling, faculty, and other departments.
  • Serve as the primary transportation dispatcher during active transportation periods.
  • Maintain real-time communication with drivers and respond effectively to delays, emergencies, and operational changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation communication with students, families, school leadership, and corporate partners.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, train, and evaluate transportation staff.
  • Assign routes, manage schedules, substitute coverage, overtime, and leave.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, customer service, and safety.
  • Maintain driver certifications, evaluations, training records, and compliance documentation.
Fleet Management & Safety
  • Oversee maintenance and daily readiness of the school's transportation fleet.
  • Coordinate inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, licensing, registrations, insurance, emissions testing, cleaning, GPS systems, and fleet documentation.
  • Investigate transportation accidents and incidents and complete required reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance and compliance records while promoting a culture of safety.
Program Administration
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer on transportation budgeting, vendor management, fleet planning, and financial oversight.
  • Coordinate transportation vendors and service contracts.
  • Recommend fleet improvements, replacement schedules, and operational efficiencies.
  • Research and implement new transportation technologies and best practices.
  • Build strong relationships with Corporate Work Study partners through regular communication and collaboration.
  • Support school-wide initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years of student transportation experience, including experience as a bus driver
  • Supervisory, dispatch, or transportation leadership experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or willingness to obtain one within an agreed-upon timeframe after hire
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, TB screening, and criminal background check
  • Knowledge of transportation operations, fleet maintenance, dispatch systems, and applicable transportation regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Experience working in K–12 schools or student transportation
  • Experience in a faith-based or mission-driven organization
  • Experience using transportation routing or fleet management software
