Ride Technician I

The Ride Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for performing general maintenance, inspections, and support of rides and attractions in a safe, guest-first environment. This role focuses on foundational technical skills, safety compliance, and completion of required training and certifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Display an understanding of all Ride Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrate consistent execution of all safety policies.
  • Understand and adhere to all company policies, including but not limited to those around punctuality, grooming, social media, and confidential information.
  • Demonstrate the ability to contribute to a safe environment for animals, ambassadors, and guests.
  • Display the ability to utilize all job-related equipment associated with this level.
  • Consistently practice safe work habits including, but not limited to, the use of personal protective equipment, proper lifting, and reporting of unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct daily ride inspections.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services.
  • Provide support in troubleshooting problems with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Develop basic ride management, inventory, and parts knowledge and applications.
  • Attain all related check-offs in assigned area(s) for this job level.
  • Accurately complete and maintain documentation, including Pre-Op Inspections, CARS, logbooks, and scheduled maintenance services.
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Replace de-energized electrical components as qualified.
  • Comprehend and sign relevant area and department SOP manuals and communication logs.
  • Report safety concerns to leadership and respond to emergencies as trained.
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and utilize the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Portal.
  • Use hand tools and other equipment in accordance with training and company policies.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and devices required for the role.
  • Display responsibility for supplies and company resources.
  • Demonstrate awareness of regulators and accrediting bodies.
  • Physically prepare facilities for inspections.
  • Use supplies efficiently and responsibly.
  • Complete area projects, curriculum, training, and assigned sign-offs.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and daily operational projects as assigned.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to function within a team environment through professional communication, reliability, a positive attitude, honesty, and effective time management.
  • Communicate openly with ambassadors across departments and contribute to area discussions.
  • Accept direction and feedback openly and adjust performance accordingly.
  • Encourage others and address conflict appropriately.
  • Support and contribute to the development of new Ride Technicians.
  • Schedule and participate in feedback sessions with mentor(s).

Training & Certification Expectations

Within six (6) months, the ambassador should be certified to demonstrate competency in:

  • Three (3) small rides
  • Two (2) medium rides
  • One (1) large ride
  • Non-ride attractions (moving walkways, elevators)

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree, bachelor's degree, or technical certification preferred.
  • No prior professional maintenance experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a park driver's license.
  • Ability to provide and use basic hand tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and basic math abilities.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to walk uphill and work at heights above 150 feet.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Career Progression

  • Eligible for Ride Technician II after a minimum of one (1) year at this level, based on demonstrated competency and completion of required training.
