Job description

Sofidel Tissue of Las Vegas (89030) is currently seeking Machine Operators to join our Converting team. We are looking for individuals who are local to the area and interested in a long-term role within a stable, growth-oriented environment.
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating production equipment and related computer systems to manufacture finished goods. This includes performing quality checks in accordance with product specifications, preparing materials for shipment, and adhering to established processes and procedures.
Successful candidates will consistently support and uphold Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy while contributing to a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Work from written orders that includes details on the production type, the material, and the palletization method used.
  • Perform hourly quality checks to ensure accuracy of production run and the submittal of daily quality reports to QA department.
  • Operate a hoist and pallet jack while loading parent rolls of paper into brackets.
  • May operate equipment through computer panel boards to perform various tasks which may include roll diameters and lengths, perforation lengths, and lop saw functions.
  • Program and monitor computerized operating panel. Calculate and determine proper core size, roll diameters, required footage and perforation.
  • May operate packaging equipment using poly or paper wrap, loading and set up in accordance with production requirements, including equipment to pack products in boxes.
  • Initiate set up, operations, and adjustments of the rewinder and all down-stream equipment to achieve established production quota.
  • Understand and apply customer specifications to the operation of the machine to ensure finished goods comply with customer requirements.
  • Program log saw and clamp product in log saw. Determine and verify cut accuracy and adjust as needed.
  • Monitors and performs product changeovers in conjunction with the Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs).
  • Adjust the embossing unit and change the core chuck as needed.
  • Ensure regular and open communications with quality, maintenance and supervision.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills on a regular, consistent basis.
  • Work the 12-hour rotating shift requirement.
  • Keep work area clean and organized while following the lean initiatives.
  • Support Sofidel Tissue's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or six (6) to twelve (12) months experience manufacturing inventory and purchasing and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SAP experience is a must.
  • Ability to work in a cross functionally across departments and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks as needed with strong time-management skills.
