What is a Revit Training?

A Revit Training job involves teaching individuals or teams how to use Autodesk Revit, a Building Information Modeling (BIM) software widely used in architecture, engineering, and construction. Trainers create instructional materials, conduct hands-on sessions, and guide students through projects to improve their proficiency. They may work for training centers, universities, or as independent consultants. The role requires strong knowledge of Revit, teaching skills, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone in a Revit Training position?

As a Revit Trainer, your daily responsibilities usually include developing and delivering instructional content to individuals or teams, assessing learners’ abilities, troubleshooting user issues in real time, and staying updated on the latest Revit updates and BIM industry trends. You may also create training materials, provide one-on-one coaching, and collaborate with project managers or department heads to address specific workflow needs. Trainers often balance classroom or virtual teaching with hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises. A key part of the role is adapting your training style to varying experience levels, ensuring all participants can confidently use the software in their work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Revit Training position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Revit Training role, you need advanced knowledge of Autodesk Revit software, practical experience in architecture, engineering, or construction, and often a relevant degree or industry certification. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) practices and the ability to create and manage digital design documents are essential, and certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional can be advantageous. Excellent communication, patience, and instructional skills are crucial for effectively teaching complex technical concepts to diverse learners. These qualities ensure trainers can convey technical expertise, support team development, and help organizations maximize their use of Revit for efficient project delivery.

Are Revit Training jobs in demand?

Revit Training jobs are in demand as architecture, engineering, and construction firms increasingly adopt Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. Professionals skilled in Revit, especially those with certifications and experience in 3D modeling and project coordination, are sought after to support design and construction projects. The demand is expected to grow with the ongoing emphasis on digital construction methods and sustainable building practices.

How do you become Revit Training certified?

Revit Training certification typically involves completing a recognized training program or course that covers Revit software skills, followed by passing a certification exam such as Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit. Gaining hands-on experience and demonstrating proficiency in Revit tools are also important steps toward certification.

How long does it take to learn Revit Training?

Learning Revit for a job typically takes between a few weeks to several months, depending on prior experience with CAD software and the depth of knowledge required. Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Company: MCG Architecture (Represented by Luxus Group)
Salary Range: $70,000 – $75,000 annually

Total Compensation Package: Competitive benefits, bonuses, and retirement contributions

About MCG Architecture

MCG Architecture is a nationally recognized design firm known for creating dynamic, functional, and community-focused environments across retail, commercial, mixed-use, and residential sectors. Our Cleveland studio offers a collaborative and growth-oriented environment where emerging architectural professionals can build meaningful careers while contributing to high-impact projects nationwide.

We are expanding our team and seeking one or potentially two Job Captains, depending on candidate strengths. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated, early-career professionals who are ready to take ownership of projects, coordinate across disciplines, and deepen their technical expertise.

Role Overview

The Job Captain plays a central role in supporting project delivery—bridging design intent with technical execution. Ideal candidates will bring 3–5 years of architectural experience, ideally within retail-focused projects, and demonstrate the drive to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This position requires strong proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead drafting efforts, coordinate consultants, and maintain quality standards. Whether your strengths lean toward CAD, Revit, or both, we are open to structuring the role around the right talent.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Management

  • Manage multiple retail-focused projects concurrently with minimal supervision.

  • Serve as a point of coordination among internal designers, drafters, engineers, and external consultants.

  • Pre-plan drawing packages, schedules, and project deliverables to ensure clarity and efficiency.

  • Support Project Managers by tracking milestones and communicating progress or risks.

Technical Production

  • Produce and oversee high-quality construction documentation using Revit and/or AutoCAD.

  • Perform high-level drafting and model development, ensuring alignment with firm standards.

  • Review and assemble details, schedules, and technical information needed for retail rollout programs and commercial projects.

  • Draft addenda, bulletins, and maintain organized documentation across project phases.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to support smooth project execution.

  • Participate in internal coordination meetings and occasional site observations.

  • Review and process RFIs, shop drawings, and submittals to maintain project quality and timelines.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct thorough checks of drawings—yours and others—to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist junior team members with technical questions and contribute to continuous improvement across teams.

Required skills and experience

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (or closely related field).

  • 4–6 years of professional architectural experience, preferably with retail project exposure.

  • Experience supporting multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong skills in AutoCAD and/or Revit (roles may be CAD-focused, Revit-focused, or hybrid depending on the candidate).

  • Familiarity with construction documentation, detailing, and building codes.

  • Bluebeam or other standard architectural software experience preferred.

Professional Attributes

  • Self-starter with strong motivation and initiative—able to manage workflows with limited supervision.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

  • Strong communicator capable of coordinating with internal teams and external consultants.

  • Demonstrated interest in professional growth; pursuit of architectural licensure is a strong plus.

  • Ability to work across retail teams and adapt to evolving project demands.

Financial Awareness

  • Not responsible for financials, but must understand project budgets and work efficiently to stay within allocated hours.

Why Join MCG Architecture

  • Competitive salary with comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.

  • Bonuses and retirement contributions included in total compensation.

  • Hybrid flexibility to support work-life balance.

  • Opportunity to work on impactful retail and commercial projects nationwide.

  • A collaborative, supportive team culture with opportunities for growth and cross-training.
