By addressing every component of a fall protection program-engineering, procedures, training, and compliance-we help our clients achieve the highest level of worker safety in the most cost-effective way.
We are looking for a candidate to fill the position of Entry-level Structural Engineer for our Safety team. The structural engineer will analyze, design, plan, and create structural components and structural systems to achieve fall protection designs for LJB clients.
Salary Range: $65,000-80,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

ENTRY-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to document structural systems in existing industrial/commercial/institutional facilities.
  • Develops the ability to design complex fall protection systems using fundamental structural engineering principles.
  • Analysis of building components used to support fall protection systems, including structural steel framing, cold-formed steel framing, and cast-in-place concrete.
  • Prepares calculations detailing engineering design.
  • Perform tasks within Revit and other CAD to execute assigned engineering tasks.
  • Assists with the preparation of construction documents.
  • Ability to access locations at height, climb ladders/scaffolding, use personal fall protection systems, and wear additional personal protective equipment, as required, in different types of environments.
  • Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completing various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, and attending in-house systems/management training (LJB provided).

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Willingness to travel (overnight stays based on supported projects) to various US-based locations. (50 to 75% travel)
  • Understanding/Training in OSHA/ANSI fall protection standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and MVR checks
  • Other duties as assigned.

ENTRY-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, architectural, or mechanical engineering required; degree with structural emphasis required.
  • New graduate to 3+ years of engineering experience, possessing knowledge and experience in the design of structural engineering projects. (fall protection preferred).
  • CAD experience (Revit and Bluebeam preferred), RAM or other structural analysis software experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable of industry codes and standards such as OSHA 1910 and ANSI Z359.

Core Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to perform duties.
  • Must meet the weight capacity of design perimeters of fall protection systems (between 130 to 310 lbs.).
  • Understands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time
