They may work for training centers, universities, or as independent consultants. The role requires strong knowledge of Revit, teaching skills, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.

How much does Revit training cost?

Revit training costs vary depending on the provider, course length, and format, with prices typically ranging from $300 to $2,000 for comprehensive courses. Many training programs offer online, in-person, or self-paced options, and some include certification upon completion.

What is a Revit technician's salary?

Is Revit a good career?

Revit is a widely used Building Information Modeling (BIM) software in architecture, engineering, and construction industries. A career involving Revit typically requires technical skills, certifications, and familiarity with design processes, offering opportunities in design, drafting, and project management roles. It can be a stable and growing career path due to increasing industry adoption of BIM technologies.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone in a Revit Training position?

As a Revit Trainer, your daily responsibilities usually include developing and delivering instructional content to individuals or teams, assessing learners’ abilities, troubleshooting user issues in real time, and staying updated on the latest Revit updates and BIM industry trends. You may also create training materials, provide one-on-one coaching, and collaborate with project managers or department heads to address specific workflow needs. Trainers often balance classroom or virtual teaching with hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises. A key part of the role is adapting your training style to varying experience levels, ensuring all participants can confidently use the software in their work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Revit Training position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Revit Training role, you need advanced knowledge of Autodesk Revit software, practical experience in architecture, engineering, or construction, and often a relevant degree or industry certification. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) practices and the ability to create and manage digital design documents are essential, and certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional can be advantageous. Excellent communication, patience, and instructional skills are crucial for effectively teaching complex technical concepts to diverse learners. These qualities ensure trainers can convey technical expertise, support team development, and help organizations maximize their use of Revit for efficient project delivery.

Can I learn Revit in 2 months?

Revit training programs typically range from several weeks to several months, depending on the depth of knowledge and prior experience. Learning the software's core features for basic proficiency can often be achieved in 2 months with consistent practice and structured courses, but mastering advanced tools and workflows may require longer. For job roles like Revit technician or designer, additional on-the-job experience is usually necessary.

Freese and Nichols is seeking an entry-level Structural BIM/Revit Technician who is eager to build a strong foundation in structural documentation and BIM production. This role is ideal for someone with Revit training who wants hands-on experience working alongside engineers and experienced technicians on real infrastructure projects. This role is open to Fort Worth, Houston, Texas, and Raleigh, North Carolina offices.

If you enjoy learning by doing, care about quality, and want to grow your technical skills in Revit within a supportive team environment, this role is a great place to start.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the development of structural Revit models and drawing sets
  • Producing structural plans, sections, elevations, and details under guidance from senior technicians and engineers
  • Updating drawings based on markups and redlines
  • Learning structural modeling best practices, standards, and workflows
  • Collaborating with project teams to support accurate, buildable deliverables

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

  • You steadily grow more confident working in Revit on structural projects
  • Your drawings are accurate, well-organized, and improve with each project
  • You ask good questions and apply feedback quickly
  • Senior technicians and engineers trust your work and attention to detail
Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of CAD/BIM principles and drawing organization
  • Interest in structural documentation and BIM production
  • Ability to work on a hybrid, inoffice schedule in one of our listed office locations

Preferred

  • Associate degree in CAD, BIM, drafting, or a related field
  • Internship or academic project experience using Revit
  • Exposure to structural drawings or construction documents

This is a technical BIM/CAD role, not an engineering or EIT-track position. Candidates seeking an engineering career path may find other opportunities at Freese and Nichols that better align with their goals.
