Position Overview:

The Revenue Cycle Consultant position optimizes OCHIN Acute Care member revenue cycle performance by providing expert guidance, technical assistance, and training to rural hospital revenue cycle teams. This position is responsible for designing and delivering innovative learning solutions, analyzing revenue cycle operations, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, increase collections, and improve satisfaction among patients, staff, and stakeholders. Acting as a trusted partner, the Revenue Cycle Consultant collaborates across teams to support process improvements, facilitate system enhancements, and drive measurable outcomes aligned with OCHIN's organizational goals.


Essential Functions:

  • Work intensively with health center teams participating in assigned projects to refine their Revenue Cycle and implement best practice concepts.
  • Design, develop, and implement member assessments/consults around Revenue Cycle performance and TA needs to identify opportunities for improvements and possible solutions.
  • Lead in the coordination of member consultations, including planning meeting logistics, communicating with members, preparing content for meetings, and coordinating follow-up.
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate learning sessions/trainings for members in collaboration with project partners including curriculum design, agenda setting, and trainer identification.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of Revenue Cycle and financial experience in similar or relevant role preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of Revenue Cycle financial management experience in similar or relevant role in Critical Access Hospitals or Rural Healthcare Hospitals is strongly desired.
  • Epic Certification/Accreditation/Proficiency in Epic Resolute Hospital Billing is required, or you must obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with EHR software is required. Specifically, EPIC expertise is required in HB Resolute module is required. Experience in Prelude, Cadence, Grand Central, and EpicCare modules a plus.
  • Must have strong Hospital Billing workflow knowledge across front end, middle, and backend processes, with the ability to coach, analyze, and evaluate current state workflows and be able to recommend and drive implemented improvements that align with OCHIN best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Experience supporting hospital go lives, revenue cycle stabilization efforts, workflow design initiatives, and operational transformation.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid acute billing regulations, CMS reimbursement methodologies, and payer specific billing requirements.
  • Must have strong technical aptitude to analyze AR data, denial trends, root cause issues, and operational metrics that impact revenue cycle performance.
  • Experience utilizing reporting and analytic tools such as Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, SlicerDicer, Clarity, Tableau, Power BI, or comparable business intelligence platforms.
  • Working knowledge of hospital departments that impact revenue cycle performance, including Patient Access, HIM, Case Management, Utilization Review, Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), Revenue Integrity, and Finance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system build and configuration to identify and resolve workflow issues independently or in collaboration with application analyst teams.
  • Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously, including timeline management, defining scope of work, member coordination, and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environments while managing multiple member engagements simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of Acute Revenue Cycle KPIs (Days in AR, Self Pay days, CFB, DNB, late charges, claim lag, denial rates etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft teams and Outlook.
  • Ability to create educational materials and influence hospital leaders and billing staff on people, process, and technology changes.
  • Ideal candidate will have deep understanding of Epic Billing functionality (Charge Capture & Revenue Integrity, Claims & Denials Management, Charge Review Work queues, Claim Edit Work queues, charge router, claims processing, etc.)
  • Experience working with Critical Assess Hospital (CAH) and Rural Health Hospitals is a plus
  • Experience supporting "Community Connect" hospitals is a plus
  • Change management skills and experience highly desired.
  • Proven success in internal and external relationships with all levels of expertise from administrative to executive leadership.
  • Must have strong consulting, facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills, including experience engaging CFOs, Revenue Cycle Directors, and hospital executives.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support go live, onsite assessments, or stabilization efforts anticipated up to 20%
  • Prior to moving forward to the team interview, all candidates are required to complete a 50-60-minute competency assessment. The assessment gives us insights into how your strengths, preferences, and work style align with the OCHIN's nine core competencies. It's not about passing or failing-it's about understanding fit and setting you up for success.

Base Pay Overview

OCHIN uses broadened pay bands to support equitable and market-aligned compensation practices. The final offer will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant skills, certifications, education, experience, training, responsibilities, internal equity, and market data.

  • This position requires a virtual home-office environment, working remotely.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices.
  • Travel is required to support OCHIN's business requirements for Go-Live installations or training which may require travel by air, vehicle, or train.

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position.
