Green Circle Growers was founded in 1968 by John van Wingerden. With just a few acres, Green Circle Growers began selling to other companies like variety stores, lumber yards, hardware stores, and grocery stores. Today, Green Circle Growers is still owned and operated by the van Wingerden family and has grown to over 170 acres of indoor growing space. Our state-of-the-art greenhouses offer many different environments to keep up with the demanding mix of products that today's market expects. We now provide plants to regional and national stores across the United States and Canada. We are able to market and offer broad products to mass merchants, as well as to growers. The retail market expects the full line of annuals in flats, containers, and baskets. The grower line produces pre-finished containers, plugs, and liners.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Merchandising Supervisor plays a pivotal role in driving sales and marketing success by managing a comprehensive list of live goods across Home Center retail channels. As a Merchandising Supervisor, you will travel within your designated region to lead the implementation of merchandising standards and guidelines in alignment with company directives.
The Merchadising Supervisor's responsibilities will include overseeing seasonal Merchandisers and inventory needs while coordinating with District Managers. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, robust project management skills, and the ability to maintain multiple initiatives simultaneously. You will be expected to foster innovation, ensure swift execution, champion change, optimize talent, and achieve profitable growth.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Lead the Live Goods Field Merchandising Program by overseeing a team of seasonal staff to ensure operational excellence
  • Cultivate strong relationships with Home Depot personnel by upholding the highest standards of professionalism and safeguarding our strategic supplier relationship
  • Guide operations in alignment with Green Circle Growers' (GCG) management directives by tailoring strategies to meet Home Depot's specific needs
  • Implement and uphold GCG's merchandising model and structure ensuring consistent adherence across all operations
  • Oversee seasonal labor budget effectively to ensure financial efficiency within your area
  • Direct the execution of flawless service by ensuring stores are set according to schematic by displaying accurate signage, maintaining precise inventories, and upholding high quality standards reflective of GCG's image
  • Embrace change positively by proactively suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, supporting new initiatives, and maintaining an open-minded approach
  • Communicate key business issues regularly and effectively to senior management ensuring transparency and alignment
  • Ensure all communications to employees including verbal and written reports are clear, concise, and consistent
  • Maintain regular communication with internal teammates and Home Depot partners by providing consistent updates and addressing store issues
  • Participate in and attend both internal and external meetings with Home Depot and GCG to stay aligned with organizational goals
  • Proactively oversee staff performance by setting high standards and providing constructive feedback to ensure Merchandisers meet job expectations
  • Assess and align staff performance with established standards ensuring clarity of job expectations
  • Provide weekly store photos and communication
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience in merchandising, retail, or another related field or relevant experience
  • Previous experience in supervision of employees is preferred
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Strong project management skills and leadership that deliver results, success, and personnel development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive in recognizing and solving problems
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays, as needed

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Outdoor and indoor retail facility; Possible extreme heat/cold dependent on season
  • Continuously requires ability to follow and give others verbal and/or written direction
  • Frequently requires walking, lifting (up to 60lbs), carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling (up to 200lbs), bending, and crouching
  • Requires sitting, standing, fine dexterity, climbing, and handling
  • May require the ability to operate machinery, drive vehicles (truck, car, van), and utilize hand tools, computers, or general business equipment
  • Weekends are required as well as some holidays including, but not limited to, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day
  • Frequently requires travel between stores
