Job Description:

The Executive Protection Program Manager provides enterprise leadership, oversight, and operational accountability for Intermountain Health's Executive Protection Program (EPP). This role is responsible for behavioral threat assessment integration, executive risk management, protective intelligence, travel and event security planning, and high visibility incident response. The position serves as the systemwide subject-matter expert and ensures standardized, scalable, and risk-aligned protective services across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Leads and manages the executive protection program across the enterprise, ensuring alignment with organizational safety, security, and workplace violence prevention strategies.
  • Directs executive risk assessments, protective intelligence activities, and threat mitigation strategies for senior leaders, board members, and high-profile events.
  • Oversees behavioral threat assessment coordination in partnership with internal stakeholders (HR, Legal, Risk, Workplace Violence Prevention teams).
  • Develops and implements executive protection policies, standards, and operational protocols across the system.
  • Plans and coordinates executive travel and event security, including site assessments, advance work, and protective operations.
  • Provides command-level response and coordination during high-risk or high-visibility incidents involving executives or corporate facilities.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with internal partners and external agencies, including law enforcement and intelligence resources.
  • Ensures program readiness through training, exercises, and continuous improvement of protective practices.
  • Establishes and monitors performance metrics, program outcomes, and risk indicators to support continuous improvement and executive reporting.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to assigned protective services personnel and/or matrixed security teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid LEOSA credentials
  • Valid Driver's License in state of practice.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in security, law enforcement, military, or executive protection roles.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to react quickly in high-stress situations.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, web-based applications, risk assessment platforms/software.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Obtain and maintain required licensing for private security officers within 3 months.
  • Obtain and maintain concealed carry permit within 3 months.
  • Obtain all other applicable licenses and certifications required to carry a firearm in this role
  • Must own or obtain approved firearm upon hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with customers require employees to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Must be able to navigate stairs without difficulty.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
  • Must pass a firearms marksmanship qualification course similar to those given to law enforcement
